All I had to do was pop the tape in every night before I left and store it in the morning, but starting Monday our tapes have been coming up as overwrite protected when the backup tries to run at night. This is occurring with about 90% of the time, seemingly randomly. We have two weeks worth (10 tapes) so I went through these tapes a couple of times with no problems. I've checked the write tabs on the tapes and they are correct. And veritas is configured to not put any overwrite protection on them when it backs our system up. Unde

Error Message Media "xxxxxxx" is overwrite protected.Please remove the media from the drive.Please Insert overwritable media into the drive. UMI code : V-275-432,V-275-413,V-275-417, V-275-416 Cause This alert may be displayed because the media provided for the backup operation is overwrite protected. This protection can be physical, or by the Backup Exec (tm) Advanced Device and Media Management (ADAMM). There are three separate alerts related to this message (Figures 1, 2 in Solutions Section ). Solution Figure 1Figure 2 To resolve the alert message, perform the following:1. Check the physical write protection switch on the tape; verify that the tape is not physically write protected.2. I created a backup job which will take full backup of a client from Monday(1/06/2010) to Saturday(6/06/2010). And the requirement customer asking is next Monday(8/06/2010) backup should be overwritten in place of first Monday's(1/06/2010) backup. So the media should contain backups from 2/06/2010 to 8/06/2010. I configured media set daily with overwrite protection period of 6 days and appending period for 7 days.
