Printer Friendly Page Error 1067 when starting Backup Exec Server service Jason3 Level 3 ‎10-16-2007 03:58 PM Options Mark as New Bookmark Subscribe Subscribe to RSS Feed Highlight Print Email to a Friend Report Inappropriate Content I keep getting an Error 1067 when the Backup Exec Server service tries to start. I have tried removing Backup Exec 11d and SQL Server 2005 Express and reinstalling them. Every time I reboot the server, it won't let me start backup exec 12.5 remote agent up the service. The remote agent and Device and Media service starts up fine but the rest of the services do not. I did get this installed and working at one point and successfully ran a backup but the next day I came in, nothing would work. This is running on a Windows Server 2003 R2 domain controller backing up to a DLT VS160 tape drive. My guess is one of the windows patches that was installed in the past 2 weeks might be to blame for this. Thereisn't any useful information in the windows event logs. Any ideas on what I can check? Over the weekend the air conditioning in the server room lost power and I found the server rebooting in a 95 degree room. When I cooled the room and booted the server the backup exec services did not start. When I attempted to start them , I received error 1067 the process terminated unexpectedly. I uninstalled backup exec remote and reinstalled Veritas 11D to no avail. I verified that the username and password used to start these services was correct. When I reboot the server I also ger an error at login that says, "Backup Exec RPC Server encountered a problem and needed to close." Any help would be greatly appreciated. 0 Question by:bschorle Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Best Solution bybschorle This problem has been solved. It could be anything - goosed hard drives, registry or data corruption. You have done exactly what I would have expected to fix it. 0 Message Accepted Solution by:bschorle2008-09-05 This problem has been solved. The problem is caused by both Attix5 and Symante BE using the same listening port (Port 10000) to talk to the backup agents. It seems that the Attix5 dominates the battle, and Backup Exec will then fail with the error : Completed status: Failed Final error: 0xe000846b - The resource could not be backed up because an error occurred while connecting to the Backup Exec for Windows Servers Remote Agent. Make sure that the Remote Agent is installed on the target computer and is running. To get around this error, you can change the Attix5 listening port by following these instructions : Stop the ‘Attix5 Professional' service within ‘Control Panel' - ‘Administrative Tools' - ‘Services'. Right click the Attix5 icon in the system tray and select ‘Exit'. Close any instances of Attix5 that are running. Browse to the Attix5 installation directory (by default C:\Program Files\Attix5 Professional\) through Windows Explorer. Make a backup copy of the ‘a5backup.properties' file and store it somewhere safe. Open the original copy of the ‘a5backup.properties' file and add the following entry at the bottom of the file, ensuring that there are no trailing spaces or carriage returns:- service.port=10001 Close the file and save the change. Start the ‘ Attix5 Professional' service and open Attix5 Professional. To confirm that the change has worked, execute the following command from a command promp
