I have tried removing Backup Exec 11d and SQL Server 2005 Express and reinstalling them. Every time I reboot the server, it won't let me start up the service. The remote agent and Device and Media service starts up fine but the rest of the services do not. I did get this installed and working at one point and successfully ran a backup but the next day I came in, nothing would work. This is running on a Windows Server 2003 R2 domain controller backing up to a DLT VS160 tape drive. My guess is one of the windows patches that was installed in the past 2 weeks might be to blame for this. Thereisn't any useful information in the windows event logs. Any ideas on what I can check? Previously working fine for as long as I can remember, suddenly decided to stop working today. No passwords have been changed and no changes made to server.Looking in services.msc the following services backup exec are not running:- Backup Exec Agent Browser- Backup Exec Job Engine- Backup Exec ServerAttempting to start the services through Backup Exec console or beutility gives a "The dependency service or group failed to start" error.Attempting to start the services through services.msc gives error "Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly".My event log is filled with: "Event ID 1000: Faulting application beserver.exe, faulting module kernel32.dll", and various time stamp, exception code, fault offset, codes, and "Event process terminated unexpectedly ID 7034: The Backup Exec Server service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 37 time(s)".I have attempted to start the services through Backup Exec and services.msc using both Local System account and Domain Admin account (which has not changed).I've googled extensively the list of dependencies and as far as I can tell they're all running.I tried renaming the msgq000000000.dat file to .old based on a tip I found googling, which did not help.I tried re-registering regsvr32 msxml3.dll based on a tip I found googling, which did not help.I haven't been able to try rebooting yet because this is a heavy-use production server.Feeling pretty frustrated, up till 4am working on this, this is the last server I still have running a Symantec backup product and now it's broken on this one for inexplicable reasons, too. :(Any suggestions to get my backups working again? Thanks!
