We are using Backup https://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?t=15802 Exec 12.5. We have the remote agents on our other servers running Windows. We are looking to backup all our servers up to a Synology RS407 with the latest firmware installed (DSM 2.1-0844). The backup exec is configured to perform a Backup to Disk (B2D) to a shared folder with read right permission to the Backup Exec Account The Backup appears to start normally, but part way through the backup, an error occurs. The logs show the media is unavailable. Event ID: 58057Backup Exec Alert: Media Error(Server: "ROCK") The backup-to-disk device is offline. This is typically caused by the folder becoming inaccessible due to it being deleted, renamed, or unshared. It may also be caused by a disk full condition. The folder state has been set to offline. Please attend to this condition. Additional detail may be found in the Event Viewer - Application Log.After this happens the Backup Exec software loses access to the NAS itself. The only way to resolve the access is to resta

Solved B2D Byte Count Differences Posted on 2007-08-01 Storage Software 1 Verified Solution 1 Comment 1,682 Views Last Modified: 2008-01-09 Hello, We recently started using Backup Exec 10 for SBS B2D for part of our backup procedure. I'm seeing two issues backup exec with this process that I need some clarification on. First, the byte count in the job monitor is appx 1Gb larger than the byte count on the HD. Compression is set to hdw if available, otherwise none. I do not have verification set on the job due to timing, so I'm not sure if this is a good backup or not! Second, I am moving the file from the HD to an event id 33808 external HD for storage. I then get a message in the event viewer, "An error occurred while processing a B2D command. Drive: ReadFMTable() CreateFile failed (\\xxx\xxx\DailyBackup\B2D000007.bkf). Error=2 For more information, click the following link: http://eventlookup.veritas.com/eventlookup/EventLookup.jhtml" This message is actually referring to the backup I moved, not the "new" one. We would actually like to write that backup to tape, however, I am concerned about the validity of "backing up" a backup. Some instruction on whether this is feasible or not would be appreciated. Thank you.
