Error 1068 Backup Exec Job Engine
your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now I changed the password on the user that runs Backup Exec and now some of the services refuse to start. They grumble that some dependencies won't start, https://vox.veritas.com/t5/Backup-Exec/Error-1068-the-dependency-service-or-group-failed-to-start/td-p/269394 but of course they don't say what dependencies they're having trouble with. Error message: 1068 The problematic services are Agent browser Job engine All the other BE services work just fine, including SQL. If anyone can give me a list of dependencies I'll run those down too, preferably with a cement truck. Thanks, -Todd Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: Experience with Backup Exec 2010? Go to Services and then open the properties of the service that failed and discover the dependencies. Those services probably use the BackupExe user to run the services. 1 Jalapeno OP Hennepin Jun 13, 2012 at 4:29 UTC They do indeed list a tremendous amount of material in that tab, most of which doesn't make any sense. 0 Serrano OP tlam2833 Jun 13, 2012 at 4:39 UTC @Hennepin, Are you restarting these services in BE itself? In anycase, the most common problem with services not starting properly is a permission problem with the user trying to start the service. see the following symantec doc about BE service account. http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH23689
1 Thai Pepper OP Jeff9151 Jun 13, 2012 at 4:39 UTC Hi Hennepin, It lists the dependent services, so look at the other services and check the Logon tab and make sure you have the password reset if it list your BackupExe user. I listed the Backup Exec services on my server. 1 Cayenne OP Symantec Matt Jun 14, 2012 at 8Symantec Backup Exec Join the Community! Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now I am currently running Backup Exec 2010 R3 https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/985951-backup-exec-2010-r3-job-engine-service-error-1068 on Windows server 2003. Attempting to start the Backup Exec Job Engine service results with error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start. I believe this service fails as it is dependent https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27022193/Dependancy-service-or-group-failed-to-start.html upon the Remote Agent for Windows service. I thought the remote agent agent only needs to be installed on remote machines that require backing up, not sure this service needs to be installed on backup exec this machine?. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Have you restarted the server? Was this working before and error 1068 the now stopped? 0 Chipotle OP Matt (Symantec) Jun 2, 2015 at 3:47 UTC Brand Representative for Symantec Restart all Backup Exec services. 0 Pimiento OP aw3 Jun 2, 2015 at 3:50 UTC We had a router issue about a month ago. After fixing this hardware issue, backups would no longer run (all ip addresses of remote machines changed) and I am no longer able to browse remote resources. In an attempt to get the backups running again I have restarted the server. I was told this machine did not require Remote Agent and I removed it. Attempting to restart the Remote Agent service on results in "The system cannot find the file specified." The option to install Remote Agent (from disk) is greyed out and my only option is to create a Transform. 0 Pimiento OP aw3 Jun 2, 2015 at 3:54 UTC Restarting all services results in: Starting Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Systems on SERVER. I believe that whilst restarting new updates were installed. When i try to start the services either through computer manager or through the backup exec program i receive the following error message: Error 1068: The dependancy Service or group failed to start I have googled this issue and it seems you can resolve this by installing updates to backup exec. The problem is that i cannot do so without getting into backup exec which wont start. I have also tried using to BEutil to start the services - same issue I have also tried to repair the database through this tool - still not luck.
