My Tape Drive Drivers are old and I wish to upgrade them, because we are unable to compress data properly. After consulting HP they suggested me to download the L&TT tool and run it to test the compression. So I downloaded it. They also suggested me to stop all Backup Exec Services before running that tool. I stoped all the Backup Exec services. I ran that tool. Now I wish to start Backup Exec Services again. When I try to start the Backup Exec Application, I am getting errors like "The Backup Exec Server system service is not responding. The service is not running or not installed." Then I tried to run the services manually from services.msc, there I was able to run two services only i.e.,"Backup Exec Error recording Services" and " Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows System". The remaing services gave me the error "1068: The dependency service or group failed to start." Could any one guide me how to start again this Backup Exec Application? Thanks, Ram. Solved! Attempting to start the Backup Exec Job Engine service results with error 1068: The dependency https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/985951-backup-exec-2010-r3-job-engine-service-error-1068 service or group failed to start. I believe this service fails as it is dependent upon https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/23980808/error-message-Could-not-start-the-Backup-Exec-Job-Engine-service-on-Local-Computer-Error-1068-The-dependency-service-or-group-failed-to-start.html the Remote Agent for Windows service. I thought the remote agent agent only needs to be installed on remote machines that require backing up, not sure this service needs to be installed on this machine?. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. After fixing this veritas backup exec hardware issue, backups would no longer run (all ip addresses of remote machines changed) and I am no longer able to browse remote resources. In an attempt to get the backups running again I have restarted the server. I was told this machine did not require Remote Agent and I removed it. Attempting to restart the Remote Agent service on results in "The system cannot find the file specified." The option to install Remote Agent (from disk) is greyed out and my only option is to create a Transform. 0 Pimiento OP aw3 Jun 2, 2015 at 3:54 UTC Restarting all services results in: Starting Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Systems on SERVER. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, then: Set the Backup Exec

Once you've identified that, then you can troubleshoot the causes of that service not starting. If you're not familiar with service dependencies, you can see the dependencies by opening the Services console, then going to the properties of the service that won't start
