The resource selected for backup does not still exist in the environment. 2. Changes made in Active directory or workgroup with regards to the User name or password used by Backup Exec (Service Account or Logon Account). 3. TCP Port 10000 for Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP) that Backup Exec uses is being shared or block by another application on the remote machine. 4. Error Message 0xe000fe7d - Access is denied. To back up or restore System State, administrator privileges are required Cause This error can be encountered when issue https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000084042 occurs authenticating through a domain controller or contacting the FSMO (Flexible Single Master Operations) role owner. Solution Workaround: Adding the following registry key to bypass the credential check on both the backup server and the remote server can resolve the issue. Note 1: If this modification is being used because the FSMO role owner is unavailable then it should only be used when it is known that the backup is successful when the FSMO role owner is available. Note 2: In order for this registry entry to be effective, Backup Exec (tm) must be build 11d or newer. To check the build, open Backup Exec, and select Help | About Backup Exec.To add the registry key, use the following procedure:1. On the server being backed up go to Start | Run2. Type regedt32 and click OKWarning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.3. Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Symantec\Backup Exec for Windows\b

SBS 2003, Exchange 2003 Sp2, Backup Exec v12 for SBS Backups fails with error code E0008488. Backups were successfull until recently, possible changes are windows updates, symantec live update. Backups run as domain admin, credentials test is all OK in job setup, domain admin username is unique, can send and recieve emails etc etc etc. Errors in the job log: Job completion status: Failed \SERVER\Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes is not snappable. The credentials are correct.
