HerbertK Level 4 ‎08-07-2013 12:29 AM Options Mark as New Bookmark Subscribe Subscribe to RSS Feed Highlight Print Email to a Friend Report Inappropriate Content Each workday I make a scheduled full backup to tape storage of only folders that change havily during the day. First the Exchange database is being written to tape, than (append) thesecond https://vox.veritas.com/t5/Backup-Exec/V-79-57344-33039-Error-Mount-failed-User-canceled-a-Physical/td-p/610989 job, that backs up specified folders is started. This worked fine for some months, but yesterday and today both jobs suddenly fails. In the joblog I see "V-79-57344-33039 - Error - Mount failed. User canceled a Physical Volume Library operation." for bot jobs. On top in these messages I see the first items where it is failing, the first job for the Exchange database, the second for the first 2 folders in the job. I've looked this issue up on this site, and see similar questions being asked, but no real solutions? Im using Backup Exec 2012. I tried to alter the first job and do a testrun (never have used this before), to see if I could get a clear message about what was going wrong exactly. However the testrun failed rather quick (within 5 minutes) and in the Job log window I got the message: "Final error: 0xe0008703 - The test run has detected a potential problem. See the job log for details". But I already am looking at the Job log (at least that is the name of the window I am in)! Where do I have to go to get the specified error message? Anybody a clue? If you need more information please let me know.. Kind regards, Herbert Labels: Backing Up Backup and Recovery Backup Exec Error messages

We are currently getting the following error: "The job was canceled because the response to a media request alert was Cancel, or because the alert was configured to automatically respond with Cancel, or because the Backup Exec Job Engine service was stopped." When we look at the Job History Log it comes back with: "Drive and media mount requested: 13/12/2012 19:00:09 V-79-57344-33039 - Error - Mount failed. User canceled a Physical Volume Library operation." Anyone got any ideas? It always cancels the job 2 hours after starting aswell. Thanks in advance! It is possible that you are spanning tapes or physical volumes and when BE wants to switch, it is waiting on you to say yes. There are timeouts that will automatically cancel after a certain period. Need some specific detail to assist further. 0 Pimiento OP AndrewLowis Dec 14, 2012 at 3:34 UTC Thanks for the quick reply. What detail do you need? It backs up our SQL server information and AD and all the data on the server. It backs up to an external USB hard drive as the tape drive failed and my company were to tight to buy a new tape drive! Anyway, We change the drive every day, and it comes up with that error. If you let me know what information you need, I will try and provide it. 0 Mace OP Denis Kelley Dec 14, 2012 at 3:43 UTC Basically, need to see what the overwrite period and whatnot is in configuration. Do you have space on that drive or do you swap USBs daily? 0 Pimiento OP AndrewLowis Dec 14, 2012 at 3:52 UTC Drives are swapped daily and they
