I've tried completely disabling the remote Firewall and I can ping the FTP Server successfully, but I still can't FTP to it. If I use the command prompt I get: ftp> open 10.0.2.1 Connected to 10.0.2.1. Connection closed by remote host. I thought it was probably the Firewall... but obviously it's not. What else could be blocking it? It's a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine running IIS7 (natch). connection closed by On the machine itself I can navigate to ftp://localhost and see the files, I just can't do it when I'm "local" to it via VPN. FTP uses more ports than just 21. –Django Reinhardt Jun 30 '14 at 16:35 Hmm. FTP won't use other ports (that are used by active/passive mode for data transfer) until you log in. But server even doesn't accept USER command and closes the connection. PS: we are on IIS8 and Windows Server 2012 –mistika Jun 30 '14 at 17:06 Right, I see what you're saying. However that is not all that is needed as port 21 is just control port and an FTP server opens other ports for actual da

When I connect to the FTP site using Explorer I can transfer files with no problem. When I use the command line I get the "Connection closed by remote host" error. This is my txt file that I use: @echo off open ftp.ftpsite.com 8021 username password prompt cd INBOUND quote pasv mput ARScan.csv The command line just sits after the mput for about 30 seconds and the errors. Reading the link it looks as though the issue is that Cpmmand Line FTP does not support passive mode, however it looks as though the session enters passive mode?? See Screen Shot. I run the same procedure to another FTP site with no problem so it must be something to do with the passive mode..? 0 LVL 34 Overall: Level 34 Windows 7 8 Internet Protocols 2 Message Active today Expert Comment by:Kimputer2013-09-19 Yes, my answer was too quick.
