Check in Settings > Connection > Firewall for "PASV mode". Is that switched on? Your firewall could be complaining because in active mode the FTP server has to be able to make connections to your client. With passive mode the client makes the connection to the server. Of course the down side of command line is we cannot see the uploading speed. Using IE by dragging the file over would not have the problem either. The funny thing is even it said the connection had been disconnected, but the uploading process was still going on until it was completed. (Read 12745 times) klkl Jr. Member Posts: 7 what is "service closing control connection"? « on: September 02, 2006, 05:35:11 PM » hi , i am kinda new with this download and upload thing but sure is willing to learn. ran thru some of the posts here but cant seem to find any similar case.situation:got internet connection problem for a few days, technician on the line asked to change some settings on my MAC, then problem solved;managed to online and wanted to download some files from a ftp server subscribed;connecting halfway, a message popped up: Message from the Server: Service closing control connection.what does it really mean? is it my connection setting causing it? cause before my internet failed, everything was ok and i was downloading crazily.... What that reason might be, I really don't know for sure... it could simply be that there are too many people connected. To find out more, please send me an FTP Transcript file when this happens again.
