much.A few days ago my host upgraded my server to a larger SSD and cloned the data to it. Just before they did that, FileZilla worked fine using SFTP. Right after the clone, it no longer works. That doesn't make much sense, because the clone changed nothing except moving the existing data to a larger filezilla exit code 1 drive. I asked my host about it, thinking something must have happened during the clone, but they told me that they could connect fine using WinSCP. I downloaded WinSCP myself and I can connect just fine with that, however I prefer FileZilla. I tried reinstalling to no avail. Here is the error, replacing the information obviously:Code:Status: Connecting to serverip...Response: fzSftp startedCommand: open "user@serverip" 22Command: Trust new Hostkey: OnceCommand: Pass: ********************Status: Connected to serveripError: Connection closed by server with exitcode 127Error: Could not connect to server Top Profile Reply with quote botg Post subject: Re: Connection closed by server with exitcode 127PostPosted: 2013-07-12 06:29 Offline Site Admin Joined: 2004-02-23 20:49 Posts: 28483 First name: Tim Last name: Kosse Try to connect with an ordinary SSH client and watch for additional prompts and messages during the login process that shouldn't be there. On the right side make sure you have the correct private key file, or add if missing the correct entry. Using the DO web console, login as root and do 'tail -f /var/log/auth.log'. Then try to login with Filezilla and note any messages. Reply Log In to Comment 0 ibrahimmumcu January 13, 2015 I always logged in with username & password via Filezilla. Why do I need private key file now? 'tail -f /var/log/auth.log' returning some of logs but doesnt mean anything for me :( 0 gndo January 13, 2015 [deleted] 0 ibrahimmumcu January 14, 2015 @gndo Logs are here: Jan 14 15:07:35 aa sshd[17609]: reverse mapping checking getaddrinfo for myIP.dynamic.ttnet.com.tr [myIP] failed - POSSIBLE BREAK-IN ATTEMPT! WinSCP translates the numerical codes to a textual description for you, so you do not have to remember them. The SFTP server should also provide a meaningful textual description of the error itself. WinSCP includes the server-side description in its error message, labeled "Error message from server". Such description can include more detailed information than WinSCP can possibly deduce from the numerical code. Code 4 (Failure) Codes List References Code 4 (Failure) Note that not all servers use all codes. Most SSH/SFTP servers, including the most commonly used OpenSSH, support only SFTP version 3 that defines only codes 0 to 8. Advertisements: These servers would generally use code 4 (Failure) for many errors for which there is a specific code defined in the later versions of SFTP protocol, such as: Renaming a file to a name of already existing file. Creating a directory that already exists. Moving a remote file to a different filesystem (HDD). Uploading a file to a full filesystem (HDD). Exceeding a user disk quota. In this case the server is required to provide meaningful description of the error itself (see above). Unfortunately, OpenSSH SFTP server uses always description "Failure". Is such case, there is unfortunately no way to tell a reason of the failure. Codes List Code Name Description Comment 0 OK Indicates successful completion of the operation. 1 EOF An attempt to read past the end-of-file was made; or, there are no more directory entries to return. 2 No such file A reference was made to a file which does not exist. 3 Permission denied The user does not have sufficient permissions to perform the operation. 4 Failure An error occurred, but no
