426 Connection Closed Transfer Aborted Filezilla
2014-09-16 04:22 Posts: 4 Hi,I am using FileZilla Server. It was working fine about a month ago. Now I am seeing this error frequently (once every a few ftp error 426 transfer failed seconds to once every few minutes).- The server is behind a firewall and uses passive mode.- These are large data files.- The connection is 100 Mbps and the transfer rate ranges from 100KB to 5 MB. Higher speed appears to suffer from more frequent disconnect.Below is the log. Any hint on how to troubleshoot? Thanks> 227 Entering Passive ftp passive mode Mode (64,119,##,##,10,148)> REST 11159189> 350 Rest supported. Everyday in the early morning, a script on another server (S2) will run and initiate FTP transfer of pulling log files connection closed transfer from S1 to S2. The FTP client we're using is built-in FTP.exe in Windows 2000 on S2. Recently we replaced S1 with a new server however we kept the IP address. There are multiple IP addresses on new S1. Ever since the new S1 was in place, the '426 Connection closed; transfer aborted.' errors haven been occuring randomly. The log indicated that the transfer started ok however the file cannot be transferred completely, as per log below: mget access*.log 200 Type set to A. 200 PORT command successful. 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for access02232010.log(205777167 bytes). 426 Connection closed; transfer aborted. ftp: 20454832 bytes received in 283.95Seconds 72.04Kbytes/sec. The firewall monitor suggested that the connection was setup in passive mode however I've been told that MS FTP.exe doesn't support passive mode. Though I can see the response of 'entering passive mode' from server when typing in 'quote pasv'. My network admin has told me to try the transfer in active mode however I don't know how to open active mode on client side. It's getting really frustrating. Wish someone here has the right knowledge/experience could
may alternatively see the error "425 Can't open data connection.". A Microsoft knowledge base article explains it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817829 "When the client establishes a passive mode FTP connection to an FTP server, the client must establish both connections. The FTP server returns the TCP port used for the FTP data connection. The FTP server expects this FTP data connection to come from the same IP address as the FTP control channel. If the connection comes from a different IP address, the FTP server may reject or close the connection because this may be a passive mode port theft attempt. When ISA has more than one IP address bound to the external interface, the source IP address for the FTP data connection may not be the primary IP address. Instead, the source IP address may be one of the secondary IP addresses bound to the external interface. With the hotfix installed, ISA always uses the primary IP address for both types of connections." The solution: "You must install ISA Server Service Pack 1 (SP1) before you install the following hotfix." Privacy Statement. Copyright 2000-2011 Chilkat Software, Inc. All rights reserved.
