Cpu Fan Error F1 To Continue
I have my new computer since yesterday, but Im having some problems, when I turn on my computer I get the error "CPU Fan cpu fan error f1 to resume error, press F1, to continue". After some googling, I have found out that probably the bord or cpu have the default cooler the "stock cooler" and I have the NOCTUA NH-U12S U-TYPE. My board: ASUS MAXIMUS VI EXTREME C2 My CPU:

INTEL CORE i7 4770K (3.5GHZ) SKT 1150 I know that this is happening because the RPM is around 400 when needs to be above 600. There is some ways to fix this issue like: - change in BIOS to ignore this - change in BIOS to modify 600 to 300 My question, do you suggest making this change in BIOS? Will the low RPM not affect the performance of my computer? I was thinking in remove the NOCTUA NH-U12S U-TYPE and cpu fan error on boot add the original cooler that come with my CPU... is this a better solution and will fix my RPM and will have a better temperature with the original? Here are some photos of temperatures and case: What do you think about this temperatures? About the last photo, the cooler fan is too close to the case fan. Is this an problem? The other side I have the RAM sticks... If you cooler actually fails you will at least know it happened. Logic tells me lowering rpm limit wont change anything with cpu performance, its rather an infromation then an active process. On the other hand nowadays CPU's have build in thermal limiters so even if it will be overheating in any case, it will limit its speed as a protection or shut down in extremal situation. Your temps shown in bios has almost none information value since the CPU is working on IDLE state, go for some real test and monitor temperatures. I cant see any reason why would you want to swap back to original cooler, except the fact that at this moment its making some weird and illogical alerts which i believe can be handled in few seconds. m 0 l Best solution GhislainG a c

Published on Feb 14, 2014I am sharing a simple self-made video how to http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1983884/cpu-fan-error-press-continue.html solve CPU fan error. In order to make this message disappear from a PC on startup you have to get into the bios settings of your computer. To get into the bios settings you have to press Del, F1 or F2 (varies according the different motherboard) while starting your computer as shown in this video. After getting into the bios search for fan control settings, I have to enter into the Power tab of the bios settings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIDrJ0uZq2U on this motherboard to get into the CPU Fan speed. On this motherboard CPU fan speed is N/A by default & I have to change it to Ignored to make the message of CPU fan error disappear on startup. In some motherboard the rpm of CPU fan warning is highlighted by default at 600 rpm & if you lower the rpm to 300 rpm the CPU fan error will disappear. But do remember to save the bios setting before exit by pressing F10 as shown in this video to remove the CPU fan error warning message. FAN. You can refer to the steps below to resolve the issue. https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1006064 1. Please make sure the CPU FAN is installed https://forums.techguy.org/threads/american-megatrends-cpu-fan-error.986460/ on the right position of the motherboard and twist the screws tightly 2. Ensure that the CPU FAN cable is securely installed to the CPU_FAN connector instead of the CHA_FAN. 3. If you install the other brand of CPU FAN with lower cpu fan revolutions speed, the system may not able to detect it correctly. You can try to set "CPU Fan Speed Low Limit" to 200 RPM in BIOS configuration. * "CPU Fan Speed Low Limit" appears only when you set the CPU Q-Fan Control to [DC Mode], [PWM Mode], and [Auto]. For those early cpu fan error versions, you need to set the CPU Q-Fan Control to [Enabled], [Advance Mode] or [Auto]. 4. You can set Monitor->CPU FAN Speed to [Ignore] if you don't want to open the computer case. *You can set CPU FAN Speed to [Ignore] if your computer coming with water cooling system without fan. 5. Update the BIOS to the latest version. http://www.asus.com/support/faq/1008279/ If the issue still occurs, please consult with ASUS Service Center.

Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement Takasheen Thread Starter Joined: Dec 11, 2008 Messages: 27 Here's the problem: When I start my computer, I'll get a black screen with a bunch of text with "American Megatrends" as the header. The screen is unusual, and on the bottom it says "CPU fan error!, press F1 to continue." If I simply press f1 and ignore it, my computer eventually shuts off, and restarting my computer doesn't get my display back, I have to reset my cmos. Things that I've tried: Now, I had this problem before, and my computer doesn't have a cmos switch, so I had to take out the battery for a couple minutes, and that worked. Today I woke up to have the same problem. Only this time, when I took out the battery and put it back, the problem persisted. So I tried entering my system setup and set "CPU fan speed" to ignore, that still did nothing. So I'm aggravated, annoyed and helpless. Any help would be appreciated. The fan came with the computer, i've been using it since- it works perfectly fine Takasheen, Mar 17, 2011 #4 prunejuice Joined: Apr 2, 2002 Messages: 3,429 It's possibly the computer thinks it's over-heating and shutting down. The heatsink may not be making proper contact with the processor. You might want to try removing the heatsink, cleaning off the old thermal paste from both heatsink and processor and re-apply fresh thermal paste. Make sure the retention bracket is secure, if need be. prunejuice, Mar 17, 2011 #5 Takasheen Thread Starter Joined: Dec 11, 2008 Messages: 27 I uh..Well only the first part of that makes sense to me hahah. Is there any links you can provide as a tutorial showing where the heatsink is and ho
