CPUZ, CPUID Hardware Monitor, HWM Blackbox, PC Wizard are some of the good monitoring softwares... use Speedfan to control the speeds of all fans connected to mobo but dont trust its temp readings... christopDec 19, 2010, 5:44 PM Go into your bios and disable the fan warning. I had this happen to me after installing my water cooling loop. This comes up cause I didn't have anything plugged into the CPU fan header. Related Resources Arct

If it won't spin under those circumstances, you have a bad fan, bad wiring, or a bad header. Have you tried different pins on that correct header? Posts So recently, I got the parts for my new homebuilt PC installed and ready to use, https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1033550 everything was hooked up according to the instructions (AMD) but when I go to turn the PC.. the fan spins a bit.. then stops. The BIOS reads a https://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-Freezer-Pro-Rev-Multicompatible/product-reviews/B002G392ZI CPU FAN ERROR. I've googled around a bit but not found anything particularly conclusive. I took it out and put the stock cooler in for now because I cpu fan didn't want to take any further risk. So, anyone got any suggestions? I can't figure out whats up.. I thought maybe it wasn't getting the correct amount of power, I was going to get a CPU_FAN connector to molex and hook it directly to my PSU.. (500W) but that seems like a bad way of doing it. cpu fan error Reply Dumb x 1 (list) 3rd December 2010 Post #2 bohb Asshole Extraordinaire May 2005 3,709 Posts If you tried plugging the CPU fan into the CPU_FAN 3 prong (newer boards can have a 4 or 5 prong connector for PWM, but 3 prong connectors still work) and the fan isn't spinning, it could either indicate a problem with the motherboard, or a problem with the fan itself. Go ahead and try the molex to fan connector adapter and see if the fan works. If it does work, then you have a problem with the motherboard. I've matched it up with a AMD Phenom II 955 on a GA-M720-US3 motherboard. It's a bit tricky to install because you have to screw the heatsink into two loose clips. You have to put a bit of pressure on the metal bit to get the screw to match up and meet the clips. Once screwed tight its stable and does a great job at cooling. Initial temperature was 45C, the dropped down to 28C on second boot, due to the pre-applied TIM settling down.A must buy! I disabled the chassis fans to confirm this. I can't complain too much for the price, compared with other after-market coolers. The fan is not swappable, Will see if another 92mm PWM fan will swap before throwing it in the rubbish bin, and if there are any compatible fan clips. Best to stick with coolers that allows the fan to be swapped. Bad design. Trying to save the heat sink at the mo. Everyone going for the Cooler Master
