I've got a Noctua NH-U14S for CPU cooling and it's plugged into the main cpu fan error asus z87 CPU fan connection. The motherboard acknowledges the existence of the CPU fan but it seems to think it's running too low (it's at 568 RPM with a CPU temperature of 32C showing BIOS). It

seems the lowest RPM without warning is 600RPM.I'm a total noob so I'm really just clueless about if this is an actual issue or not. Is 32C for a CPU that's just showing BIOS normal? Should my CPU fan be working harder right now and keeping the CPU cooler? If this isn't an issue, I'm guessing it's all right to lower the threshold for cpu fan cpu fan error asus x99 warning to something closer to 400-500RPM, right? If this isn't normal and it's an actual problem, what can I do about it? I mean, the fan is recognized by the system and it seems to run, just a bit slower than the motherboard expects it to. Then again, I can't run any tests on it (playing games or stuff like that) at the moment since I'm waiting for my OS to be delivered. My build is the following:ASUS Z87-PROIntel i7-4770kKingston DDR3 HyperX Predator 8GBNoctua NH-U14S CPU CoolerEVGA GeForce GTX770Corsair AX860 PSUThanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help me. 5 answers Last reply Sep 21, 2013 Best Answer Jul 9, 2013 More about cpu fan error boot chugot9218Jul 9, 2013, 4:55 PM If your temp is showing 32c in the BIOS, I would go ahead and lower the CPU Fan threshold. As soon as you boot up, grab a temp monitoring program (CoreTemp, RealTemp, etc..) and watch it there. If things stay pretty cool (within 5c or so of your BIOS reading), you should be good to go. 23 I just built myself my new computer, with Asus Rampage IV Extreme, i7 3930K and a Noctua NH-D14. My motherboard gives a CPU FAN

ERROR and the fan runs at 300 rpm and the cpu stays around 34 C. Both fan cables were connected to a Y-cable which in turn was connected to an extension-cable, both supplied by Noctua, and then connected to the http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1728332/cpu-fan-error-boot.html main CPU fan connector on the mobo. I also tried to connect it to the optional CPU fan connctor on the mobo, but still same error. I don't know how to solve the problem and I would really appriciate if someone would help me out. If yes try to use 100% instead to see if it works differently. But with my Noctua D14 there were different types of Y connected provided. One was not modifying the voltage and others were reducing the voltage to reduce the rpm and therefore the noise. Are you using the correct Y connector? if the error is the problem then you can normally disable the speed check in the bios. Yes there was only one Y-connector to the fan, SE2011 edition, and two small LNA cables - one for each fan. But now I skipped the extension cable and managed to fit the Y-cable to the main CPU fan connector - but I still got the same result, plus the fan stopped spinning after the first 10 seconds and then wont spin untill after 30 seconds and then very very slow and at a speed of 150 rpm. I wonder if it might

The problem is that I my fans on the cooler don't start cpu fan error unless i give it a slight flick or nudge, and on start up there is a slight warning sign that says "CPU FAN ERROR"Noctua's support (http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=faqs&step=2&lng=en&products_id=34#5) says that I could just plug it into my power supply, however I would like to monitor and change the speeds of my fan(s) in my bios. So is there anything that I can do to fix this?I've also moved the fan to different headers to check if it was my motherboard's fault or the fan, but the fan still has the same problem - wont start without a nudge. What's the problem anyone have any suggestion? btw here's a pic of the cooler with the fan not moving. As you can see the large NF-P14 is spinning [as so the exhaust as well] however the NF-P12 isn't. - LuckyDuckstrCPU: AMD FX-9370 | CPU COOLER: NOCTUA NH-D14 | MOTHERBOARD: ASUS CROSSHAIR V FORMULA-Z | GPU: GIGABYTE GTX 770 (2GB) |RAM: G.SKILL RIPJAWS X 2x4GB 1866 | STORAGE: SAMSUNG 840 EVO (250GB) | CASE: NZXT H440 - Red & Black | PSU: XFX PRO XTR 80+GOLD (750W) | KEYBOARD: DUCKY SHINE 3 CHERRY MX BLUE RED LED | MONITOR: AOC E2460SD | OS: WINDOWS 8.1 x64.
