Unsure how to correct cpu fan error asus x99 the problem. Hello! before i start, i did search through the forums but didnt find anyone with the same problem i think i have. i just bought a new computer and have assembled it today. on initial boot the system was perfect, accepted all the hardware. everything was fine. windows installed without a hitch. I began to install the motherboard drivers, starting with the chipset driver. the system rebooted and suddenly it reported "CPU FAN ERROR, Press F1 to Run SETUP" (LED Debug code 34) before it got to windows. i opened the case and found the CPU fan was NOT spinning. I reinstalled all the software on the disc provided and have not been able to get the fans spinning again. im scared to do to much on the system without the fans running. i have disconnected and reconnected the CPU-FAN header a few times and tried an alternate fan as well and found no progress. im sorry if this has been answered before i simply cannot find an answer. my specs are as follows: ASUS Maximus IV z68 GENE-Z Intel i5-2500k ASUS GTX560 CoolerMaster Power GX 650W Noctua NH-U9B G.Skill 8GB 2133 DDR3 RAM thanks for any assistance you can give. im really hoping the motherboard isnt faulty. i would hate to have to pull this apart again. -Nathan Last edited by Kinryu; 01-19-2012 at 11:29 PM. in Motherboards Share nichos February 16, 2009 8:22:56 AM On boot-up I get beebs with cpu fan error asus m5a97 an " CPU Fan error" & have to click on "F1" to continou booting. "Real Temp" shows 30c instead of 23-25 degsC it cpu fan error asus z87 pro used to show. I reinserted the Fan cable & fan spins freely. Any Ideas about this? Thanx ..........nick More about : cpu fan reports error jerreece a b à CPUs February 16, 2009 4:00:33 PM I had https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?9802-quot-CPU-FAN-ERROR-quot-on-boot-Unsure-how-to-correct-the-problem a similar problem with a motherboard once before. You might go into your Fan Speed / Alarm settings in your BIOS and take a peek. I had a motherboard that had a default alarm settings for something like 800RPM, and when the PC would first boot it would go off thinking the fan was going to slow (even though it was going fine). I think I changed the setting on it and the problem went away. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/256959-30-reports-error As far as your temp changes go. Obviously make sure your fan doesn't have dust/lint build up in it (as well as other case fans). Also, if your room temperature changes, so will your CPU temp. If you've updated Real Temp recently, that could change it too if they changed the default TJMax settings for your specific CPU. Anyhow, there's a couple ideas for you. nichos February 16, 2009 10:06:34 PM Thanx, willinvestigate all ...........nick Home build, Asus P5K Premium WiFiiFi Intel, Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 95W 2.4GHz, OCZ Vendetta Cpu Cooler, 2x2GB, 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 800 (400mhz) PC2-6400, EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX KO 512MB GDDR3 (PCI-E), Excelsior sata 250gb, OCZ 600W Game XStream Psu, X45, XPpro sp3/Ubuntu 8.10 Can't find your answer ? But I get this error message that says: CPU Fan error! Press F1 to resume I read some other posts about people who are using water cooling systems and proceed to ignore the fan speed in the BIOS setup.. However, I am not using any water cooling systems. I have a stock CPU fan that is sitting on top of the CPU. Any suggestions on how I might solve this problem? #1 serenadesx, Nov 16, 2008 masteryoda34 Golden Member Joined: Dec 17, 2007 Messages: 1,399 Likes Received: 0 Make sure you have your CPU fan plugged into the CPU fan plug on your motherboard and not just an auxiliary plug. #2 masteryoda34, Nov 16, 2008 serenadesx Junior Member Joined: Nov 11, 2008 Messages: 16 Likes Received: 0 The auxiliary means the 4 pin from the PSU right? THe motherboard slot and the AUX slot is pinned in.. Any suggestions now? #3 serenadesx, Nov 16, 2008 masteryoda34 Golden Member Joined: Dec 17, 2007 Messages: 1,399 Likes Received: 0 I'm sorry that's not what I meant. Ok, so your motherboard probably has many different plugs for fans. One of them will be specifically for your CPU HSF. It will probably be labeled "CPU Fan" or something. There will also be many others that are just extra plugs for case fans and such. Make sure that your CPU fan is plugged into the plug on the motherboard for the CPU fan, and not just a normal plug for an extra case fan. #4 masteryoda34, Nov 16, 2008 RadiclDreamer Diamond Member Joined: Aug 8, 2004 Messages: 8,481 Likes Received: 0 Originally posted by: masteryoda34 I'm sorry that's not what I meant.
