I have installed the CoolerMaster V6GT cpu cooler which has 2 fans. The fans from the cooler are connected to the 4 pin CPU fan connectors on the top of the motherboard (CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT). At POST, I get the CPU fan error. Press F1 to continue. Only happenes from cold boot and not restart. The fans wont start spinning as soon as I power up, but as I enter the BIOS the fans start spinning and I can exit BIOS and can boot into the OS. Am I missing something or connected something wrong. Everything else seems fine and the system works great. Any help greatly appreciated. PhilJackson Junior Member Joined: Jan 10, cpu fan error asus z97 2009 Messages: 7 Likes Received: 0 Well, my newly built system was running fine for the past week but as I turned it on today, I got a message saying "CPU Fan https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?2650-CPU-Fan-Error Error! Press F1 to Resume." So I restarted the computer to see if that would fix it and it did. The error was gone. I ran Speedfan and something weird happened. Aux0 and Aux1 have no speed. I opened up the computer and all three Chassis fans and the CPU fan were running fine. Here's a picture of SF: http://i41.tinypic.com/166x8jn.jpg Any clue why the error https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/cpu-fan-error-asus-p5q-pro.260962/ first occurred and why there is no RPM for the fans? By the way, there are three case fans and one stock Intel CPU fan. I know that at least 1 (can't remember if it was both) of the Aux fans had a speed reading before this. Thank you. #1 PhilJackson, Jan 27, 2009 chizow Diamond Member Joined: Jun 26, 2001 Messages: 9,537 Likes Received: 0 You get the CPU Fan Error if you don't have a fan plugged into the 4-pin PWM fan plug (a 3 pin fan works fine, you just dont' get PWM control) located to the right of the CPU if looking at it from the top. There's a lot of fan plugs on this board, which is great imo, just check your manual to make sure you're using the one specified for the CPU fan. #2 chizow, Jan 27, 2009 PhilJackson Junior Member Joined: Jan 10, 2009 Messages: 7 Likes Received: 0 I looked right now and made sure that the one it was being connected to was the CPU Fan plug. I restarted the computer a few times and the error did not come up

Everything works just fine when I build his system. Only one problem that just won't go away. When I boot I get this crazy cpu fan error "CPU fan error" and I need to press F1 when I want to go further in booting. When I look into the rpm from this Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 I see that it only runs at 700 rpm while keeping the E6600 at a 32 C degree idle temp. The bios displays this rpm red.....I guess it won't accept the rpm for some reason. I find it really strange cpu fan error that Asus is not fixing this irritating error for as far as I know. So, my question is.......is the only solution to just put all cpu fan controlling functions on ignore in the bios? Would that not put danger on his system as nothing is monitoring it anymore? Or is there maybe another solution to it. His bios is v. 1305 the way he bought it. There are so many people who own this mobo so maybe somebody has a better solution.....thx for your help. I presume you mean the target cpu temp that I should enter for the bios to know right? If so, I will let you know if it works. If not Asus is not doing a great job in supporting cpu's coolers within their flagship mobo bios. I've read a lot of problems about this. Ignoring the cpu error problem usually helps but I mean comeon....we are talking about Asus here...the big BRAND. They should be able to fix this right?
