CPUZ, CPUID Hardware Monitor, HWM Blackbox, PC Wizard are some of the good monitoring softwares... use Speedfan to control the speeds of all fans connected to mobo but dont trust its temp readings... m 0 l christop a b K Overclocking December 19, 2010 2:44:39 PM Go into your bios and disable the fan warning. I had this happen to me after installing my water cooling loop. This comes up cause I didn't have anything plugged into the CPU fan header. m 0 l Related resources Arctic cooling freezer 7 pro rev 2 fan cpu cooler cpu fan error - Forum New CPU fan running at very high speed (Arctic Cooling Freezer 7) - Forum Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 - Forum Arctic cooling

This http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php/681172-CPU-fan-error-but-fan-still-works-help-needed is what I have running at the moment; Case: Coolermaster HAF X Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair Formula V RAM: A couple of Dominators Video Card: XFX Radeon 6870 CPU Cooler: Coolermaster V6GT CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 1100t A couple of hard drives, and an optical drive The problem is that when I turned it on for the first time I heard one short beep, which I read is normal, and then it is followed by one long beep with four-or-so short ones, and the screen says that there's a CPU fan error. I turned the system off completely and turned it on again, this time watching the V6GT, I noticed that it doesn't start spinning as soon as I pressed the power button but it does immediately after the long beep with four-or-so short beeps. I have checked and re-checked the connection; since the V6GT has two fans, I have connected one into the CPU fan header and the other into the optional CPU fan header. The BIOS detects the fan speeds which are usually around 2000/2300 rpm, and the CPU temp which I have not seen go higher than 40 degrees. I have been using it for a couple of days now and everything seems to work fine, but the error message still continues. Can anyone help with this problem? Any help will be appreciated Thanks in advance Reply With Quote 07-09-11,08:08 AM #2 thideras View Profile View Forum Posts Destroyer of Empires and User Accounts, El Huginator
Posts So recently, I got the parts for my new homebuilt PC installed and ready to use, https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1033550 everything was hooked up according to the instructions (AMD) but when I go to turn the PC.. the fan spins a bit.. then stops. The BIOS reads a CPU FAN ERROR. I've googled around a bit but not found anything particularly conclusive. I took it out and put the stock cooler in for now because I cpu fan didn't want to take any further risk. So, anyone got any suggestions? I can't figure out whats up.. I thought maybe it wasn't getting the correct amount of power, I was going to get a CPU_FAN connector to molex and hook it directly to my PSU.. (500W) but that seems like a bad way of doing it. cpu fan error Reply Dumb x 1 (list) 3rd December 2010 Post #2 bohb Asshole Extraordinaire May 2005 3,709 Posts If you tried plugging the CPU fan into the CPU_FAN 3 prong (newer boards can have a 4 or 5 prong connector for PWM, but 3 prong connectors still work) and the fan isn't spinning, it could either indicate a problem with the motherboard, or a problem with the fan itself. Go ahead and try the molex to fan connector adapter and see if the fan works. If it does work, then you have a problem with the motherboard.
