Error 1324 The Folder Path My Pictures Contains An Invalid Character
Re: Error 1324 occurs during installation on new Win 7 Pro Machine pwillener Oct 1, 2012 6:55 PM (in response to HFJNS) See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/292582Check what the path for 'My Pictures' is in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Re: Error 1324 occurs during installation on new Win 7 Pro Machine bsmeets Mar 25, 2013 11:35 AM (in response to pwillener) Thank you. In my case the 'Pictures' folder was redirected by a domain policy to an UNC path, while the parent folder was mapped to 'U:'. Therefore I changed the registry values to the same location using the drive letter (U:\Pictures). Apparently the installer doesn't work well with UNC paths. The problem seems to exist for a long time now (I just saw a post from someone dated 2010). On every update I saw the error but didn't want to fix it. Now I did, by myself and with the help of the mighty internet. Would be nice if the installer said: "Hey, there's a 1324 error. Let's try another way around!". Why does it even want to use the Pictures folder instead of the local Temp folder? Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. computer which had changed domain servers and had an old profile I experienced this error: "Error 1324.The path My Documents or the volume is http://getdeclue.com/2012/08/09/adobe-reader-install-failed-error-1324-the-path-my-documents-or-the-volume-is-invalid-please-enter-it-again/ invalid. Please enter it again." This told me the my documents folder was being redirected to an invalid location. I tried right clicking on my documents in the start menu but http://www.technipages.com/error-1324-the-folder-path-contains-an-invalid-character I was unable to change the path probably because of an old group policy. I figured I would need to change it in the registry. The registry key for My error 1324 Documents location is usually HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders But if it has been changed by group policy like in my case it is located here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders The key is called personal in both locations. The way I fixed the adobe reader install problem was to change the my documents location back to a local location such as the default location of: error 1324 the C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents. I also changed the location of my pictures, my music and my videos for good measure. I then downloaded the full installer from Adobe's website saved it in the local my documents location and the install finished successfully. { 4 comments… read them below or add one } md November 7, 2012 at 5:19 am Great Thank you for the info!
