Error 1324. The Path My Documents Or The Volume Is Invalid.
Oct 1, 2012 3:08 AM I keep getting "Error 1324: The path My Pictures or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again." while trying to do a first ever installation of Reader on a brand new HP Windows 7 Pro PC. The error seems to occur after download and during installation. Any ideas what I can do? The machine is part error 1324 adobe of a local area network in a school with a domain and a local server. In my case the 'Pictures' folder was redirected by a domain policy to an UNC path, while the parent folder was mapped to 'U:'. Therefore I changed the registry values to the same location using the drive letter (U:\Pictures). Apparently the installer doesn't work well with UNC paths. The problem seems to exist for a long time now (I just saw a post from someone dated 2010). On every update I saw the error but didn't want to fix it

vote 'Error 1324. The folder path 'My Pictures' contains an invalid character' message is a error 1234 the path my documents contains an invalid character huge problem with Windows 7. Anytime a user has folder redirection for document, pictures, music, ect... msi's will give the following message when error 1324 the path program files contains an invalid character configuring or installing. Not all MSI's have a problem but some do and it makes deploying software a nightmare. Yes, I know there is the option of resetting your user shell folder paths back to default, but https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1074702 we need redirection and the msi packages do not like the HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders. Thursday, June 17, 2010 3:05 PM Reply | Quote Answers 11 Sign in to vote Hi Everyone, I'm a little late to the party but I might have some useful info. I just ran into this same issue. Windows 7 Pro, Win2003 SBS server domain, My Documents being https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/7ef1e664-7dfa-4ac9-ac48-9ff41717f8f4/error-1324-the-folder-path-my-pictures-contains-an-invalid-character?forum=w7itproinstall redirected through a Group Policy Setting. My Documents redirects to \\SERVER\USERS\USERNAME. Error message that My Documents contains an invalid character. Like TS7, if the user logged in was a Domain Admin, this error did not occur. The difference between a Domain Admin and a Domain User? In my case, The Domain Admin has rights to the USERS folder I listed in the My Documents redirection path. A Domain User does not. A Domain User has full rights ONLY to their User Folder (The USERNAME) part. By giving the Domain Users READ access to the USERS folder (only that folder) the error went away. Apparently even though the user had full rights to their user folder, the fact that they didn't have any rights to the USERS folder in the path was causing the issue. (at least in my case). Hope this helps. Their documents and music have been redirected to the server. My guess is that you are a home user... For somebody else that has this problem, I fixed it by changing the r
