I then tried to download and install Reader 11. The install got to 67%, the same as before, then stalled and I got the same error message (#1324). I now have no Adobe Reader adobe reader error 1324 path my documents on my computer. I then downloaded SODA PDF Reader. It works OK but is not as convenient as Reader was. Norman R. Forson Edit Answer (for another -21 minute) I am sorry that this did not work. The discussion here http://forums.adobe.com/thread/463026 suggests that this problem may be caused by the location of your My Documents folder, and if that's the case, you should be able to point this to a local directory, install Reader, and then have it point back to the network location. But How do I point "My Documents" to C? It is now under C:/users/Norman/. Adobe reader was under C:/programs(x86). That folder is now gone. Norman R. Thursday, June 17, 2010 3:05 PM Reply | Quote Answers 11 Sign in to vote Hi Everyone, I'm a little late to the party but I might have some useful info. I just ran into this same issue. Windows 7 Pro, Win2003 SBS server domain, My Documents being redirected through a Group Policy Setting. My Documents redirects to \\SERVER\USERS\USERNAME. Error message that My Documents contains an invalid character. Like TS7, if the user logged in was a Domain Admin, this error did not occur. The difference between a Domain Admin and a Domain User? In my case, The Domain Admin has rights to the USERS folder I listed in the My Documents redirection path. A Domain User does not. A Domain User has full rights ONLY to their User Folder (The USERNAME) part. By
computer which had changed domain servers and had an old profile I experienced this error: "Error 1324.The path My Documents or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again." This told me the my documents folder was being redirected to an invalid location. I tried right clicking on my documents in the start menu but I was unable to change the path probably because of an old group policy. I figured I would need to change it in the registry. The registry key for My Documents location is usually HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders But if it has been changed by group policy like in my case it is located here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders The key is called personal in both locations. The way I fixed the adobe reader install problem was to change the my documents location back to a local location such as the default location of: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents. I also changed the location of my pictures, my music and my videos for good measure. I then downloaded the full installer from Adobe's website saved it in the local my documents location and the install finished successfully. { 4 comments… read them below or add one } md November 7, 2012 at 5:19 am Great Thank you for the info!
