Please note: I have not run "aticonfig --initial" yet. At the end of installation, installer said there are errors - check the /usr/share/ati/fglrx-install.log The fglrx-install.log asked: Quote: You must change your working directory to /lib/modules/fglrx and then call ./make_install.sh in order to install the built module - recreating module dependency list - trying a sample load of the kernel mo

Upgraded from 14.04 to 14.10. The upgrade went fine, however on reboot I could not get into X. It would load, show the spinner just before showing the login dialog and then would freeze. Could not get to ttys, though magic sysrq keys worked. After rebooting into a recovery mode and re-installing fglrx-updates, I could log in, however when I run some X apps, I get errors. My xorg.conf is rather standard and was generated using aticonfig --initial: $ cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf Section "ServerLayout" I

I'm trying to run an older X server compiled with apt-build from the Intrepid sources on Jaunty. There were a few rough spots getting that working, but it's working now and I have X.org server 1.5.2 running with fglrx, but no 3D acceleration or direct rendering. I cannot load the fglrx kernel module and the drm module at the same time. Code: $ sudo modprobe drm $ sudo modprobe fglrx FATAL: Error inserting fglrx (/lib/modules/2.6.28-11-generic/updates/dkms/fglrx.ko): Operation not permitted Code: $ sudo modprobe fglrx $ sudo modprobe drm FATAL: Error inserting drm (/lib/modules/2.6.28-11-generic/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/drm.ko): Cannot allocate memory I've tried various different combinations of kernel and Catalyst drivers.
