What is the output of dkms status ? comment:3 Changed 7 years ago by mantovam Hi frank. I fix the problem. When I install the package kernel-smp-devel, and re-run /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup Must be the same version of the kernel. I guess that the error in dkms package, isn't important, because the virtualbox must install without this.I just instaled, because I didn't know the cause of the errors (Invalid module format). My suggetion to developer group, is make a pre-requirement when run the install of Virtual Box. Like: Check supported kernell Check if the version of gcc was the same that the kernel was buid. Check if there is packages kernel-devel. Check if the /usr/src/kernel/

Compilation of module is successful. I think it is because module of virtualbox is only for older kernels(2.6.23.14-107.fc8, 2.6.23.15-137.fc8). In dmesg I get: vboxdrv: version magic '2.6.23.12-52.fc7 SMP mod_unload 686 4KSTACKS ' should be '2.6.23.12-52.fc7 SMP mod_unload 586 4KSTACKS ' The default kernel config has: CONFIG_SMP=yes So this might be the issue, the kernel should be compile with SMP on a single CPU machine. When I try to start the VirtualBox I get an error stating that vboxdrv cannot be found. error inserting I try starting the VirualBox Daemon (e.g. /etc/init.d/virtualbox start) and I get the same error vboxdrv cannot be found. Shouldn't this work right out of the box? I have the powerpack edition and MCC states that virtualbox rpm was installed. What gives? Thanks! Do you have these installed? Also, I used MCC to remove the VirtualBox package that was installed during installation and downloaded the binary from www.virtualbox.org for Mandriva 2007.1 and installed it. These are the results I received: #rpm -i VirtualBox-1.3.8_mdv2007.1-1.i586.rpm Creating group 'vboxusers'. VM users must be member of that group! Failed to open/create the internal network 'HostInterfaceNetworking-wlan0' (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND). Failed to attach the network LUN (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND). One of the kernel modules was not successfully loaded. Make sure that no kernel modules from an older version of VirtualBox exist. Then try to recompile and reload the kernel modules by executing '/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup' as root (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND). but when run: sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup Code: Recompiling VirtualBox kernel modules, NOT. It has been packaged. after some googling seems you need to load vboxnetflt module first. but when i try to run: sudo /sbin/modprobe vboxnetflt i (again) got error message: Code: FATAL: Error inserting vboxnetflt (/lib/modules/2.6.34-12-desktop/updates/vboxnetflt.ko): Inval
