that is listening on the specified TCP/IP port. See the following section "Establishing a TCP/IP Connection" for more information. When this low-level TCP/IP connection has been established, the http://media.datadirect.com/download/docs/slnk/errmsgs/tcpconn.html SequeLink Client exchanges operational parameters, or a handshake, with the SequeLink service. See "Connection Handshaking" for more information. This chapter describes situations that may cause TCP/IP connections between a SequeLink Client and https://publib.boulder.ibm.com/html/as400/v4r4/ic2924/info/db2/rbal1mst132.htm a SequeLink service to fail. See Chapter5 "Error Messages" for information about the error codes referenced. Establishing a TCP/IP Connection If you are experiencing problems when a TCP/IP connection is made error occurred to a SequeLink Server, follow these recommendations: If the server host is specified by a symbolic host name instead of an IP formatted address, make sure that the host name can be mapped to an IP address. Error 2469 indicates that the specified server could not map the server host name to an IP address. Other TCP/IP applications, such as ping, telnet, ftp, a tcp ip or traceroute, should return similar errors. Confirm that it is possible to make a TCP/IP connection with the specified server host using other TCP/IP applications, such as ping, telnet, ftp, or traceroute, if the requested service is available on that host. If other TCP/IP applications can connect to the server host, look for the following problems in SequeLink: An invalid IP address has been specified. An invalid host name has been specified, even if the host name is mapped to a valid IP address. The server host may not be operational. The server host could not be reached from the client machine because of a routing problem. If a time limit is set on the connection, check whether a timeout occurred. Error 2320 is returned when TCP/IP cannot connect to the server host within the specified time. Increase the time interval and try again to connect. If the port is specified by a name instead of a number, check whether the name can be mapped to a port number. Error2470 is returned if the specified name cannot be mapped to a port number. Check the TCP/IP services configur
occurred, or the machine is not running. Server Is Not Started or the Port ID Is Not Valid The error message given if the DDM TCP/IP server is not started is CPE3425: A remote host refused an attempted connect operation. You can also get this message if you specify the wrong port on the Add or Change RDB Directory Entry command. For a DB2 UDB for AS/400 server, the port should usually be *DRDA (the DRDA well-known port of 446). However, if you have configured port 447 for use with IPSec, you might want to use that port for transmitting sensitive data. If you are using a DRDA client that supports Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), you must connect to port 448 on the server. To start the DDM server on the remote system, run the STRTCPSVR *DDM command. You can request that it be started whenever TCP/IP is started by running the CHGDDMTCPA AUTOSTART(*YES) command. DRDA Connect Authorization Failure The error messages given for an authorization failure is SQ30082: Authorization failure on distributed database connection attempt. The cause section of the message gives a reason code and a list of meanings for the possible reason codes. Reason code 17 means that there was an unsupported security mechanism (SECMEC). There are two DRDA SECMECs implemented by DB2 UDB for AS/400 that an AS/400 application requester or DDM client currently can use: user ID only, and user ID with password. The default for an AS/400 server is user ID with password. If the AR sends only a user ID to a server with the default SECMEC, the above error message with reason code 17 is given. The solution for the unsupported SECMEC failure is either to allow the user ID only SECMEC at the server by running the CHGDDMTCPA PWDRQD(*NO) command, or by sending a password on the connect request if PWDRQD(*YES) has been specified or is the default at the server. A password can be sent by either using the USER/USING form of the SQL CONNECT statement, or by using the ADDSVRAUTE command to add the remote user ID and password in a server authorization entry for the user profile under which the connection attempt is to be made. Note that you have to have system value QRETSVRSEC (retain server security data) set to '1' to be able to store the remote password in the server authorization entry. Attention: You must enter the RDB name on the ADDSVRAUTE command in upper case for use with DRDA or the name will not be recognized during connect pr
