Small Buisiness Server 2003; using a 32 bit .exe installer program, there are two parts of the application setup. an error occurred while reading the flp file it may be corrupted or some plugin The first checks to see if Windows Server has MS .Net FrameWork 3.5 and SQL Compact installed; if not, the .exe installs them and a OS restart is required before installing

the rest of the program. During the initial attempt of installing the program, at the end of part one of the setup there was a "An error occurred while reading the file" message. After the OS restart, when the .exe installer is launched to install the rest of the program we immediately get the "An error occurred while reading the file" error. chkdsk an error occurred while reading the file allocation table We've tried fresh copies of the installer program resulting in the same error; the installer works on other computers. The program vendor says they have installed this program on thousands of servers and have never seen this situation occur. The server has SP2 and all updates installed. There is no antivirus program or firewall running. What could cause the "An error occurred while reading the file" condition? If DVD reader, might there be something wrong with the DVD or the cable that attches it? Try using the same installer on a flash drive.
