Steps (5 total) 1 Boot from the installation cd Put the Windows set up disk in the cd drive, then shutdown the offending machine (Make sure the computer is set to boot from the CD first) Restart the computer and 2 when prompted, choose R for recovery console 3 When you see the C:\ prompt, run the following c:\fixboot followed by c:\fixmbr 4 When those have completed, run Chkdsk /p /r 5 To finish, reboot. Hopefully the nasty error will have gone away. When the computer has started, run the defrag utility in analyse mode, and check for pagefile fragmentation.
