Services. I'm not an expert so, please, bear with me. I've installed WSUS on a server 6 months ago. Since then, our computers were receiving updates as expected. The first issue I've notice was that a few newly installed computers were showing as "not reported yet" in the Update Service Console last week. I've found a few more problems after some troubleshooting. Here they wsus error 7053 are: The Update Service Console in the WSUS server can't connect to the WSUS server. Here is the text of error: The WSUS administration console was unable to connect to the WSUS Server via the remote API. Verify that the Update Services service, IIS and SQL are running on the server. If the problem persists, try restarting IIS, SQL, and the Update Services Service. The WSUS administration console has encountered an unexpected error. This may be a transient error; try restarting the administration console. If this error persists, Try removing the persisted preferences for the console by deleting the wsus file under %appdata%\Microsoft\MMC\. R2. This was a fresh install - OS, WSUS everything. Shortly after the initial sync, the WSUS admin console stopped working with the error "Connection wsus an error occurred when trying to perform a database operation Error. An error occurred trying to connect the WSUS server. This error can happen for a number of reasons. Check Connectivity with the server. Please contact your network administrator (me, in this case) if the problem persists. Click Reset Server https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/246901-wsus-stopped-working Node to try to connect to the server again." Clicking Reset Server Node does nothing. The event log shows the following services as "not working": DSS Authentication SimpleAuth Web Service Client Web Service API Remoting Web Service Reporting Web Service I've tried various fixes I've found on the web, but so far nothing works. Restarting IIS/WSUS/WID in various orders or combinations does not resolve the problem. Rebooting the server DOES resolve the problem but only temporarily. Eventually, the console crashes https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1399363-wsus-on-server-2012-r2-failing and refuses to connect. I've tried connecting via both the console on the server, and from my workstation. On the theory that it was a corrupt installation, I wiped the server clean and reinstalled form the OS up. The problem came back anyway. Clearly SOME service re-initializes itself on reboot and subsequently fails. I'm at a loss . . .Anyone had any success solving this problem? Jan 19, 2016 at 9:02 UTC After your fresh OS install did you install all needed Updates and Patches? 0 Sonora OP RC6319 Jan 19, 2016 at 9:17 UTC Yes, after the initial build I applied updates and patches. What's more, the first time, I installed all the updates BEFORE enabling WSUS features. I thought that might have been the problem, so the second time, I install updates AFTER enabling WSUS. 0 Habanero OP OverDrive Jan 19, 2016 at 9:30 UTC Have a peak at my WSUS-Cleanup script that will help you by trimming all the excess fat from WSUS, but more specifically, run the maintenance on the actual SQL database. http://community.spiceworks.com/scripts/show/2998-adamj-wsus-cleanup For your first time running my script, keep the defaults the way they are, except: Change the SQL Variables section to match your environment Change the WSUS Setup Variables to match your WSUS Server information & the rest of the variables in this section according
