An Error Occurred When Creating The Backup Folder
& Mac Software Keychain can't be repaired Discussion in 'Mac OS X System & Mac Software' started by stanhoffman, Oct 15, 2006. stanhoffman uix_expand uix_collapse Registered Joined: Nov 5, 2005 Messages: 5 Likes Received: 0 Suddenly Keychain stopped working, requiring me to enter my password every time I check mail. Keychain FirstAid Repair gives: Repair started Checking keychain configuration for Stan (user ID=501) Home directory is /Users/stan Checked kmplayer error occurred when creating filtergraph login keychain Error: login keychain not found Repair terminated unexpectedly I've tried creating a new keychain with KeyChain Access, but it says merely: "An error occured while trying to create a new keychain." Keychain window is currently completely empty. I received some help from tech support on this site: Try moving the Keychanin Preference file (com.apple.keychainaccess.plist) to the Desktop, restart and try Keychain. The file is located here; User/Library/Preferences If that doesn't help, move this file to the Desktop; 'login.keychain' Located in User/Library/KeychainsClick to expand... This works temporarily. But a few logins later, the problem recurs all over again. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the 10.4.8 update. Is there any way to fix this permanently? Thanks. #1 stanhoffman, Oct 15, 2006 Natobasso uix_expand uix_collapse Tech-Bot 5000 Joined: Jul 28, 2002 Messages: 3,370 Likes Received: 1 Have you tried the basic "repair permissions" yet? Anyhow, when creating my Certificate Signing Request I get this error from Keychain Access: "A default keychain could not be found" I found no help on Google concerning this issue - can anybody an error occurred help? Thanks! ios osx keychain share|improve this question asked Jul 15 '11 at 3:28 Pizzur22 26112 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 17 down vote Sounds like you're missing your login.keychain. Either that, or you somehow un-set it as default. Look at your Keychains list in Keychain Access (View->Show Keychains). Do you have "login"? And is it bold? If either of those answers was "no", that's your problem. If you don't have a login keychain, go ahead and create one (File->New Keychain). If you don't have a bolded keychain, right-click your "login" keychain and there should be a menu item 'Make Keychain "login" Default'. share|improve this answer answered Jul 15 '11 at 3:31 Kevin Ballard 120k17279279 add a comment| up vote 3 down vote Not allowed to create certificate: Open Keychain and goto Keychain Access -> 'KeyChain First Aid'. Apply check on REPAIR radio button and enter Admin password in password field and click on START button. System will repair the keychain and then create certificate. These steps worked for me. share|improve this answer answered Sep 3 '13 at 16:04 Sohail 394 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote
