00:54 Hi, When I installed an Adobe Flash update a few days ago, it also installed McAfee Security Scan on my computer. I can't uninstall https://forum.kaspersky.com/lofiversion/index.php/t142903.html the McAfee crapware, and my guess is that my KIS v. 9 is http://www.wikihow.com/Uninstall-McAfee-Security-Center blocking the action of the McAfee stuff so effectively, that I cannot access it to uninstall it. When I double click on the Uninstaller, I get a Windows error message that says "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions..." And error occurred when I try to remove the stuff with Windos' Add/Remove Programs utility, I get an error message that says " An error occurred while trying to remove McAfee Security Scan. It may have already been uninstalled. Would you like remove McAfee Security Scane from the Add/Remove programs list?" The KIS popup alert says "Launch of McAfee Security Scan Installer: denied according to the error occurred while application rules."All the KIS Rules for McAfee Security Scan have red X's. Apparently, KIS is effectively blocking MSS from actually doing anything, but I don't even want it on my computer. Is there a way to remove this stuff? Thanks in advance. Orrie rudger79 3.11.2009 01:23 Hi. You may have to uninstall KIS in order to uninstall McAfee but you can try this first.Open KIS main console->My Security Zone->Application Activity. Click the drop down menu and check the restricted category and the blocked category and move McAfee Installer to trusted, ok the changes.Try to uninstall McAfee via the control panel. You can also find McAfee removal tools here: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=5233 cakefordinner 3.11.2009 01:41 i'm not familiar with McAfee's Security Scan (unless you're talking about what comes in their AV or suite), but i KNOW you can't run more than 1 anti-virus or firewall without causing problems, regardless the AV/FW you're using.i had McAfee's Total Security until i kicked it to the curb (4 weeks ago) & purchased KIS. if there's no uninstall feature, or you've tried that & it doesn't work, try using the McAfee uninstaller:CODEhttp://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR

If you are using Windows XP, open "Add or Remove Programs". 3 Highlight McAfee Security Center and click .Uninstall. If this doesn't work, read on. 4 Close all windows and restart the computer. Select it from the search results. 6 Right-click on each McAfee entry and select "Properties". 7 Click the .General tab. Click the "Startup Type" menu and select "Disabled". 8 Click the .Recovery tab. Select "Take No Action" for when the service fails. 9 Reboot the computer.
