When I click the resolve button I get an error "An unknown error occurred while validating the server". I have read that for some it is fixed by enabling IPv6 and I have done that and https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27633232/An-unknown-error-occurred-while-validating-the-server-under-DNS.html also I have tried disabling my firewall but I still get this error. started a week ago. I can't really pin point any changes that would have affected this short of windows updates. I have been getting complaints from my staff that web browsing has been https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/369169-dns-servers-aren-t-communicating-correctly drastically slower. I find that when I statically assign a google DNS things start working fine. I am getting error messages in my event logs randomly stating my DNS server is unable to create a resource record: The DNS server was unable to create a resource record for 08d0c81f-d338-4790-9f7b-54bc20441616._msdcs.DOMAIN.com. in zone DOMAIN.com. The Active Directory definition of this resource record is corrupt or contains an invalid DNS name. The event data contains the error. When error occurred I attempt to ping one DNS server to another it looks like it is resolving an IPv6 address instead of the IPv4. I'm at a loss where to start investigating. When I attempt to view the NameServers from the DNS properties window I get "an unknown error has occurred when trying to validate the server". So spiceheads, where to start? Also, if all else fails, I would recommend that you contact Microsoft Support for assistance. They offer support at a flat fee (between $250 and $300 I believe) and will work until they resolve the problem. Just something to keep in your back pocket. 0 Jalapeno OP Helpful Post AdmiralBeamish Aug 12, 2013 at 8:16 UTC Have you tried restarting the service? 0 Cayenne OP mhache Aug 12, 2013 at 8:23 UTC I just restarted the services. When I run NSlookup on either server they pull eachother up So NSlookup on one server resolves the other and vice versa. I'm just curious why every time I restart the services I get The DNS server was unable to create a resource record for 08d0c81f-d338-4790-9f7b-54bc20441616._msdcs.domain.com. in zone domain.com.
