Then it failed with the internal error. Another attempt gave me a -34 error. I told iTunes to not continue the restore (when it gave me that option) and I was able to get my phone working. I'm now attampting to sync all of my content back on. Don't know if that makes sense, or helps, but basically I upgraded and restored and then resynched in a different pass. Hope it helps others. An Unspecified Error Occurred Ios
has plagued enough users for it to become a trending topic on Twitter. As the day has progressed though, an error occurred downloading ios 6 more and more error messages are popping up, everything from "An internal error occurred" with no number, to "An unknown error occurred (3004)" or with a wide variety of other error codes, https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3374000?tstart=0 ranging from 1600 to 3200. The fix for all of these errors? Patience. Just waiting it out and trying again later often resolves the problems, although that isn't much comfort to anyone who is stuck somewhere in iOS update limbo. Waiting works because Apple's servers are absolutely swamped during the iOS IPSW download and update process, as millions and millions of users try to http://osxdaily.com/2011/10/12/internal-error-or-unknown-error-occurred-during-ios-5-install/ cram through and activate their hardware. The evidence of server failure comes by a newer error message that actually reports this: "The iPhone (name) cannot be restored at this time because the iPhone software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." So just wait it out, things should sort themselves out soon enough. The other side to all of this, is that if you haven't tried updating to iOS yet, you might want to just wait until tomorrow so you can avoid some of these headaches. Update: Here's another screenshot of one of these error messages, the same advice is just waiting it out. "The iPad ‘Name' could nto be restored. An unknown error occurred (####)." Good luck! Me too by ben patterson on October 12, error occurred 2011, 4:09 pm in how-tos| phones| tablets If you keep getting a mysterious "internal error" message when you try to install the new iOS 5 software update on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, well … you're not the only one.It took me a good three of four tries to finally get my iPhone 4 updated to iOS an error occurred 5, and I'm on my fourth try and counting for my iPad 2. The issue: a rude error message that pops up while iTunes is trying to install the software update. The rather unhelpful message reads: "The iPhone [name of iPhone] could not be restored. An internal error occurred." Annoyed iPhone users are lighting up Apple's support forum with complaints about the error, and the bloggers at Business Insider say they too have been wrestling with the problem. Update: Looks like my good friend Eliot Van Buskirk at Evolver.fm is also having serious trouble with the update. I finally did manage to get iOS 5 installed on my iPhone 4, after several tries. Then again, plenty of other iPhone and iPad users claim they've updated their devices without a hitch, so it's hard to say how widespread the issue is. A "More Information" button on the error message sends you to an Apple support page, which recommends such troubleshooting measures as updating iTunes (check), disconnecting any USB hubs and plugging your iPh
