Join Now It looks like this problem started a week ago. I can't really pin point any changes that would have affected this short of windows updates. I have been getting complaints from my staff that web browsing https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/73265f68-170b-4891-92eb-b21fb9f53056/an-unknown-error-occurred-while-validating-the-server-dns?forum=winservergen has been drastically slower. I find that when I statically assign a google DNS things start working fine. I am getting error messages in my event logs randomly stating my DNS server is unable to create a resource record: The DNS server was unable to create a resource record for 08d0c81f-d338-4790-9f7b-54bc20441616._msdcs.DOMAIN.com. in zone DOMAIN.com. The Active Directory definition of this resource record is corrupt or contains an invalid DNS name. The event data contains the error. When I attempt to https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/369169-dns-servers-aren-t-communicating-correctly ping one DNS server to another it looks like it is resolving an IPv6 address instead of the IPv4. I'm at a loss where to start investigating. When I attempt to view the NameServers from the DNS properties window I get "an unknown error has occurred when trying to validate the server". So spiceheads, where to start? Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: How many DNS servers are too many? Best practice for DNS servers? Also, if all else fails, I would recommend that you contact Microsoft Support for assistance. They offer support at a flat fee (between $250 and $300 I believe) and will work until they resolve the problem. Error Image :http://www.chicagotech.net/images/dnsissue4.jpg An unknown error occurred while validating the server. Need urgent h August 20th, 2015 11:42am Hi Hi_SGH, According to your description, when you add a DNS forwarder, unknown error occurs, but when you add error occurred the same IP address on other server, it works well. We may perform a network traffic capture on the server that has problem and on the server works well, compare the packets when you add a DNS forwarder. In general, when you add a forwarder, the server will query for the PTR record, then send SOA error occurred while query to the remote server. If the remote server receives the packet, it will send back response-success packet. We may check if the server with problemcould receivethe response-success packet from the remote DNS server. Besides, the result of validation doesnt affect forward function, when DNS server forwards query to the remote DNS server, it refer to the IP address of the remote server. However, when I attempt to create the blackberry.local forward lookup zone on Parkserv I get to the "Master DNS Server" page of the wizard and after I enter the IP address of Boalsburg (192.168.251.1) it fails. It attempts to resolve/validate the DNS server, but the FQDN just gets resolved to the Netbios name BOALSBURG and under 'Validated' it just says 'A timeout has occurred' - WINS is enabled on the 2003 server and I assume that's why I'm at least getting something under FQDN.Parkserv creates the forward lookup zone for the other domain (blackberry.local) but when I select it I get an error about Zone Not Loaded by DNS Server - Transfer of zone data from master server has failed.Long story short, I can create a secondary forward lookup zone one way (add the copper.local zone to the blackberry.local DC) but not the other way (add the blackberry.local zone to th
