ANSWERS 0 ScottM Staff 15,795 Points 2013-05-03 8:39 am EST Hello shanaran, I checked your permissions for the public_html folder and they are correct. You will want to ensure that you have the server set up prior to attempting http://www.webhostinghub.com/help/community/website-troubleshooting/ftp-error-in-dreamweaver to publish the site. The server setup instructions can be found int he link below: Configure Main Domain Server Settings in Dreamweaver CS5 Or, if you are working with an addon domain instead, follow these instructions: Configure Addon Domain Server Settings in Dreamweaver CS5 Best Regards, Scott M To submit a comment on this answer, please first login. I followed those instructions first and it said connection was successful. shanaran 11 Points 2013-05-03 9:06 am EST Oh! So I tried reconnecting main domain server and it gave me the same error message there too! shanaran 11 Points 2013-05-03 9:13 am EST Hello shanaran, I recommend double checking your FTP settings to make sure they are correct. If you problems still persist, contact live support so they can review the server log while you are connecting. If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below. Solved FTP Error in Dreamweaver CS5 Posted on 2012-09-27 Adobe Dreamweaver Apache Web Server error occurred 1 Verified Solution 2 Comments 1,204 Views Last Modified: 2012-09-27 Hi guys, I'm having an issue trying to set the root directory in Site Setup in dreamweaver cs5. Whatever I enter, I get the following error when I try to test... "An FTP error occurred - cannot open server folder (root folder entered). Access Denied. The file may not exist, an error occurred or there could be a permission problem" The username and password that I've entered are correct. I'm able to upload files via DW, and I can also connect to the FTP server via other means (Filezilla for example). I've tried a few different options in the Root Directory field including: /htdocs/ htdocs/ /htdocs http://www.(sitename).com/ http://www.(sitename).com ftp.(sitename).com etc... If I leave it blank and hit 'Test', it connects fine. I need to set the root folder, otherwise I get an error when I try to create a Recordset. I am testing the ftp connection in Dreamweaver, but I am getting the same error each time. I have tried changing permissions at Powweb, but this seems to make no difference. Here's the text of the error message: An ftp error occurred. Cannot open remote folder htdocs/NewSite/. Access denied. The file may not exist, or there may be a permission problem. The file, however, does exist. I have also checked my username and password at Powweb, and they work fine. This leads me to believe there is a permission problem. If so, what do I do? Any thoughts? workingteacher View Public Profile Find More Posts by workingteacher 2-3-07, 07:05 PM #2 Croc Hunter Mod.. with bite.. Use ftp.powweb.com All folders esp htdocs should be 755. If you have an antivirus/firewall you could try turning it off. If you drop NewSite can you login to htdocs alone? Ummm.. try creating the NewSite folder from inside OPS. That's about all I can think of for now. __________________ Croc Hunter MSC : Croc Hunter View Public Profile Visit Croc Hunter's homepage!
