It is impossible to cover all the possible PHP configurations here, so difficult to give direct guidance. I suggest you google "php failed to write session data" adding your operating system to the search. If you are getting an error message that states "Error logging in to vboxwebsrv," please see the Common Errors and Issues wiki. Contents Logging in for the first time Configuring Users Access Levels Password Recovery Disabling Authentication Multiple Server Considerations Logging in for the first time When you navigate to phpVirtualBox, you may be presented with a Log in form. The default credentials are username: admin password: https://sourceforge.net/p/phpvirtualbox/wiki/Authentication%20in%20phpVirtualBox/ admin Once logged in, you should change the default password through File -> Change Password. Using the change password form. Configuring Users You may configure users in the File -> Preferences -> Users section of phpVirtualBox. This section allows you to add, edit, and remove users. Access levels and authentication is very basic at the moment. Access Levels phpVirtualBox essentially has two access levels. Admin users and non-admin users. Admin users have access to the Users section of phpVirtualBox and can add / edit / remove other users. They can also perform actions that change VM group memberships and manipulate VM groups (Rename / Group / Ungroup). Password Recovery You may reset the admin password by renaming the file recovery.php-disabled in phpVirtualBox's folder to recovery.php and navigating to it in your web browser. E.g. http://HOST-OR-IP/phpvirtualbox/recovery.php This page will present you with a simple form. Click on the Recover button to reset the admin user's password back to the default of admin. If you have removed the admin account, it will be recreated. Once
Opened 3 years ago Last modified 8 months ago Authentication by VBoxAuth always fails when process (e.g. vboxwebsrv) is running under non-root user. Reported by: https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/12609 Youhei Sakurai Owned by: Priority: minor Component: webservices Version: VirtualBox https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=10978.285 4.3.6 Keywords: Cc: Guest type: all Host type: Linux Description I faced the authentication issue with vboxwebsrv only when I use non-root user to run it although sudoing to root doesn't reproduce the problem. The root cause seems to be error occurred that vboxwebsrv by non-root user failed to read "/etc/pam.d/common-session" when trying to authenticate incoming session thru PAM. It's recorded in /var/log/auth.log on my Debian machine. The workaround is something like running "usermod -G root vbox" by root user and I think this is not obvious defect onto VirtualBox but documentation error logging into should have some description at least - I hope I wouldn't miss it. :) In addition, returning 4xx status code with valid body would be better than 500 causing puzzled error in SDK. Change the loopback address of 127.0.0.1 to your servers actual IP address and see if it starts working. You don't have to reboot the machine, just issue that command at the console, i.e.Code: [Select]vboxwebsrv -b -H [actual ip here] --logfile /dev/null >/dev/null and try reloading the phpvirtualbox page. I moved all the VirtualBox 4.1.18 files into archived. Will rewrite my instructions for version 4.1.20 later this weekend. If you have VirtualBox 4.1.18 running the way you like it, there may be no reason to upgrade. Seems like the problems being posted are coming from configuring phpvirtualbox. The version of phpvirtualbox to use did not change (I am still using phpvirtualbox-4.1-8 ~ VirtualBox 4.1.x Compatible).Actually that may be something to check if you are having problems with phpvirtualbox... just double check yourself to make sure you downloaded phpvirtualbox-4.1-8.zip ~ VirtualBox 4.1.x Compatible as opposed to phpvirtualbox-4.0-7.zip ~ VirtualBox 4.0.x Compatible. From the VirtualBox website, this is what changed between version 4.1.18 to version 4.1.20: VirtualBox 4.1.20 (released 2012-08-20)This is a maintenance release. The following items were fixed and/or added: VMM: fixed a crash under rare circumstances for VMs running without hardware virtualization VMM: fixed a code analysis bug for certain displacement instructions for VMs running without hardware virtualization VMM: fixed an interpretion bug for TPR read instructions under rare conditions (AMD-V only) Snapshots: fixed a crash when restoring an old
