Windows 10, 8, 7, and Vista Command Hold down the Windows Key and press "R" http://www.technipages.com/disable-windows-file-encryption-efs to bring up the Run window. Type the following then press "Enter". fsutil behavior set disableencryption 1 EFS is disabled. If you ever wish to enable it again, use the command fsutil behavior set disableencryption http://www.windowshelpzone.com/thread/an-error-occurred-applying-attributes-to-the-file.-access-is-denied63.html 0 Windows 2000 and XP NTFS Volumes Hold down the Windows Key and press "R". Type "regedit" and click "OK". Navigate to the following registry location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control FileSystem Look for an entry error occurred on the right side for "NtfsDisableEncryption". If it doesn't exist, you will need to create it. To do so, right-click on "FileSystem" and select "New" > "DWORD Value". Give the value a name of "NtfsDisableEncryption". 7. I had reinstall my Windows 7 and since then most of my file became encrypted (shows green in explorer). I ran into a strange behaviour where I am not able to use or decrypt the files. I dint knew about the encrytion. I am the administrator on my machine which is running Windows 7. I get the following error -------- An error occured applying attributes to the file.
