I log in as a local administrator, go to System Properties, change the name and click OK. https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/22092194/Unable-to-join-the-domain-Access-Denied.html Windows asks for a username/password for an account that has permission to rename accounts on the domain. I enter a username/password that has Full Control of the computers OU and all descendant objects. Then I get this error message: Computer Name Changes The following error occurred attempting to rename the computer to "NEWCOMPUTERNAME": Access is https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/b073a0d4-858b-4547-9f28-b647be48dd51/access-is-denied-when-renaming-a-computer?forum=winserverDS denied. If I use the name/password of a domain admin, it works. Why doesn't it work for my OU administrator who has Full Control of the computer object and the OU? The account I'm using to rename the computers has Full Control of the OU in which the computer objects are held as well as Full Control of all descendant objects. I specifically verified that it has permission to reset passwords on computer objects. Thursday, August 04, 2011 8:40 PM Reply | Quote 1 Sign in to vote بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم i
