join both PCs to the domain. Later, I discovered that I could not RDP to either PC- the following error occurred attempting to join the domain an attempt to resolve the dns name recieved a message that the primary trust had failed. I can log onto the PCs as the domain users and with the local administrator account the following error occurred attempting to join the domain the service cannot be started but get access denied when I try to log on locally as the domain admin. I can rename the PCs on the domain but cannot remove them from it. I have reset the computer accounts in active directory with no change and http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f8/joining-server-to-domain-access-denied-403975.html then deleted and later re-created them in the A/D console- still no change. Let me know if any clarification is needed. I found out that if I changed it from a "Work" network to a "Home" Network that I could use them all without any problems. It has something to do with Win 7's way of handling networks. 0 Chipotle OP drgnslyr Sep 10, 2012 at 5:22 UTC Sosipater wrote: When you log in from the client with the local administrator and attempt to remove the machine from the domain what errors do you get? Definitely would try as local administrator on the PC to see what happens. This always works for me when removing old PCs from their domain. Once logged in, change the radial to be for workgroup, give it a name, and hit OK. it may ask for a password, but you should be able to click OK on that without entering anything or cancel. 0 Ghost Chili OP Kelly Armitage Sep 10, 2012 at 5:23 UTC If you can log on locally as the LOCAL admin.... have a look to see that "domain admins" is in the local administrator group. If not, add it and then
