without using the iTunes interface. I think the only way to fix it was to create a new iTunes library. I've also seen something similar when ripping to an external drive routed through a USB hub. Something about the hub was causing a problem. Everything was fine when I connected the drive directly to a USB port. curbach, Feb 17, 2012 #2 Sandinista Formerly hightower68 Thread Starter Location: Near a beach, Florida No, no mucking. I always use the iTunes interface. Location: Hollywood, USA You "called iTunes"? I call it a piece of crap all the time, but rarely get it to respond. And Apple's no help, either. Usually, the "!" error sign indicates the database is corrupt, a file got moved, or the destination directory was set up wrong in the user config. If it's only one file, it's not a big deal. God help you when it's thousands of files. (Though this is easier fixed today than it used to be.) Vidiot, Feb 18, 2012 #6 stereoptic Anaglyphic GORT Staff Location: NY Yeah, but this error occurred before the rip, so there is no file yet to get lost. As far it being easier to find the "!" files, this happened to me once or twice. Once iTunes asked if I want to use the directory to which I pointed to find other lost files, the other time it didn't ask. Even though I clicked the OK , it didn't 'look' for those files and I had to do them one by one anyway! stereoptic, Feb 18, 2012 #7 Geithals Well-Known Member Location: Reykjavik The dupe issue is different, the cause for

No dialogue box comes up to explain why it won't load. No error message pops up. NOTHING. I've scanned the files for viruses. They don't have any viruses. ProductsHomearound the homeproductivityiTunes Access PrivilegesiTunes Access PrivilegesBy Alexander PoirierWhen you add songs to your iTunes Library, those songs are added to the Music folder in the iTunes section of the computer. Sometimes, however, you may get an "iTunes Access Privileges" error that prevents you from adding songs to your library. This error is associated with the permissions you have set on the computer, and can be remedied by changing the computer's permissions. What are Access Privileges?Like any computer program, iTunes cannot modify a file or folder that it does not have permission to modify. ITunes' access privileges are determined by whether iTunes has permission to access a file or folder. If it attempts to access a file or folder that it cannot modify, the user is prompted with an "access privilege" warning.Access Privilege WarningsIf you attempt to add music to iTunes via drag and drop, CD importing or making a purchase from the iTunes Store, you will get one of three access privilege warnings. If you attempt to drag and drop music, you will get the following error: "Attempting to copy to the disk 'your hard drive name' failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation." If you attempt to import a CD, you will get the following error: "Error occurred while converting the file 'song name'. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation." Finally, if you attempt to purchase music from the iTunes Store, you will get the following error: "There was an error downloading your purchased music. iTunes could not save to your Music Folder because you do not have write access. Check the permissions on your Music Folder, then use the Check for Purchased Music command in the Advanced menu to try again."Changing Windows PermissionsTo give iTunes access privileges, you must change the permissions for the folder it is trying to modify. Since iTunes is a music application, the folder it is attempting to modify is the computer's Music folder. Click the "Start" button, and select the "Computer" option. Locate the computer's Music folder, right-click on it,
