with Nero software It fails to install Nero 6 BaconMan View Member Profile Jul 5 2013, 08:38 PM Post #1 Newbie Group: Members Posts: 4 Joined: 5-July 13 Member No.: 10,592,013 I had bought a DVD-RAM drive in 2006 and it came with Nero 6 and installed back then.It is a HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H22L.Since my hard drive was having problems, I had to install a new hard drive and also install Windows XP.I'm gettingAn error occurred during the copy process (file name: Nero\nero.exe)Error: 13The data is invalid.and it asks me to reboot and try again. Rebooting and reinstalling just gives the same message.I guess the problem is that I confused CDs. I took a Nero program for an ancient CD-RW drive. I uninstalled that Nero before installing the DVD Nero.I guess the problem is that the uninstaller doesn't do a good job and leaves some junk in the registry.Any ideas? There is nothing useful on the web. wither View Member Profile Jul 6 2013, 01:32 AM Post #2 Advanced Member Group: Members Posts: 21,667 Joined: 30-August 08 Member No.: 8,132,427 I'm confused about the source of Nero 6. Was it on the optical drive or did you get it on a CD or DVD.The only way to remove v6 (all versions from v9 and earlier) is to run the Nero general clean tool. Those versions didn't use a Windows installer so uninstalling from Control Panel, Programs and Features is ineffective. If you have Nero 6 on a disc, it should have the general clean tool. If not, you can get it here- http://www.nero.com/enu/support/#n8::Support Tools: Note that it says for v9 through v7 but it should work for v6.Note that your Nero 6 will be an Essentials version and the capabilities vary, depending on the OEM for the optical drive. You won't be able to work with mpeg-4, .mts or .m2ts. If you registered it way back then, you can get a significant price reduction for v12 or v12 Platinum, which is a real bargain. Next, execute the following steps until success occurs. 1. Going to Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, select "InCD EasyWrite Reader (Ahead Software)", click Add/Remove, then OK as many times as needed, and write down all error messages, if any. Your error message missed the file name, so it's better to check again. Reboot. 2. Download the latest EasyWriteReader from www.ahead.de by going to LATEST DOWNLOADS | InCD 3.52.20b and selecting InCD | Utilities, or simply using the link ftp://ftp.nero.com/EasyWriteReader.exe Then run EasyWriteReader.exe, and report error messages, if any. If it installs correctly, try removing it as in step 1 above. 3. Open an MS-DOS Prompt window, type "cd c:\windows" (without the quotes) and Enter, then "unmrw.exe /UNINSTALL" and Enter. Report the messages. 4. Navigate to the directory C:\Windows\System\IOSUBSYS in Windows Explorer or an MS-DOS Prompt window, and rename the drivers BsUDFRDR.vxd to BsUDFRDR.vx_, and INCDRM.vxd to INCDRM.vx_. You may also need to clean up the registry, but you may skip it if you don't know how to back up and edit the registry. Alternatively, you may use RegCleaner from http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/shtml/regcleaner.shtml Still, for manual cleanup, click Start | Run, type "regedit" and Enter. Then search (Ctrl-F) for "bsudfrdr" (without the quote
