machine. Press any key to continue . . . So for the last two weeks, i've been using error occurred during initialization of vm eclipse my desktop with 6GB of RAM and through the run.bat script made it as high as 1568MB that I could dedicate. Well I just got my 2nd set https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bdGkEfvARg of RAM so now i've got 12GB (6x2) and I still can't go higher. Am I missing something? I don't know much about the java code line Code: @ECHO OFF SET BINDIR=%~dp0 "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xincgc -Xmx1586M -jar "%BINDIR%\craftbukkit-0.0.1-snapshot.jar" PAUSE but I've seen people with 8G in there so I know it's possible. Also going the Code: @echo off SET https://bukkit.org/threads/solved-error-occurred-during-initialization-of-vm.10595/ BINDIR=%~dp0 "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xmx1586m -Xms1586m -jar craftbukkit-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar pause route doesn't do anything better for me either. I know a little about java but the difference between "xmx/xms" and "xincgc/xmx" escapes me. halp plox. byzantinian, 31, 2011 #1 Offline bastion My BukkitDev ProfileMy Plugins (1) you have to use a 64 bit java version. google windows 64 bit java. bastion, 31, 2011 #2 Offline byzantinian yeah i noticed my the process was running as java 32-bit, but it's only running at half of what a 32-bit system can recognize. I didn't think that could be it. I'm sure it is, it just doesn't make sense to me that I need a 64-bit version to use more RAM beyond 1.5 rather than 3.5...unless that's a known limitation with Java. byzantinian, 31, 2011 #3 Offline TnT Retired Staff My BukkitDev ProfileMy Plugins (2) Java x86 can only use 1536M - hence yes, its a Java limitation. Program will exit. I tried everything I could find: I created CLASS and CLASSPATH environmental variables that went to my Java's bin folder. I re-installed java, making sure it was 64 bit, as my computer is. Still, I get this error. In your startup script, lower the values of your Xmx/Xms arguments. share|improve this answer answered Mar 9 '14 at 0:29 Rogue 5,32511445 +1 Increasing the heap will help if you get an OutOfMemoryError after the JVM starts, this error means there isn't enough system memory to allocate the heap in the first place. –Peter Lawrey Mar 9 '14 at 0:31 @PeterLawrey indeed, either not enough or the system won't allow you to overcommit that particular amount of memory (Linux's overcommit_memory comes to mind) –Rogue Mar 9 '14 at 0:32 Or there is not enough continuous/virtual memory, something 32-bit Windows can have a problem with. The heap has to be continuous in virtual memory. –Peter Lawrey Mar 9 '14 at 0:36 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote Run the JVM with -XX:MaxHeapSize=256m (or any big number), and possibly -Xmx512m share|

Thread Status: Not open for further replies. mityaphrodite New Member I really know very little computer wise but when I try to open my FTB now I am getting an issue with the Java Virtual machine. Just last night a new Java Update came up and I updated it. Ever since I cannot open my game at all. I don't have any idea how to fix it. It says could not reserve enough space for object heap but I have a gaming computer that should have more then enough space. I don't know what to do. Could not reserve enough space for object heap mityaphrodite, Oct 20, 2013 #1 Shane Waaka New Member Hi mityaphrodite, When you open your FTB Launcher, click on "options". Make sure the ram is on 1GB. I suggest looking into getting 64 bit java, this allows you to run more ram than 1GB. Shane Waaka, Oct 20, 2013 #2 mityaphrodite New Member when i go to java it just lets me download one version how do i get a different version mityaphrodite, Oct 20, 2013 #3 mityaphrodite New Member OMG I found it jeez thank you so much mityaphrodite, Oct 20, 2013 #4 Shane Waaka New Member Glad to help Shane Waaka, Oct 20, 2013 #5 (You must log in or sign up to reply here.)
