Error Occurred During Initialization Of Vm Eclipse
I switched the vm parameter on the java tab of the service properties from: C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\client\jvm.dll to: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_23\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll And now its seems to work fine. What could be the cause of this error out of the blue? Thank you tomcat tomcat7 share|improve this question edited Jun 14 '12 at 14:40 Magnus Lindhe 3,40733451 asked Jun 13 '12 at 12:33 user648026 1,02883153 I had a similar problem because the JVM used to compile the Web Service was a different version from the one used to execute. Maybe its the same reason. –vellvisher Jun 13 '12 at 12:43 I also experienced this problem today! I don't have the jdk installed so I haven't tried your solution yet. Tomcat was running but when I did a restart it would not start again. –Magnus Lindhe Jun 14 '12 at 13:59 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote accepted I did a reinstall of JRE to version 6u25 and Tomcat was able to start again. I guess something must have messed up the JRE depenencies. The only recent installations on the server was a couple of days ago. Before th

Maximum http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11014893/tomcat-7-fail-to-start heap size I can allocate for Java is 110MB. When I add those param to JAVA_OPTS I can run java -version. Problem is that I can not run Tomcat with these parameters. Maximum heap size for Tomcat to run is 40MB. I do not know why I can not allocate more memory? Of course I get error: Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap Could not create the http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6235701/tomcat-problem-could-not-reserve-enough-space Java virtual machine. java tomcat memory heap heap-memory share|improve this question asked Jun 4 '11 at 8:40 ZenQW 156124 Are you sure enough memory remains for this size of heap? Check free memory space on your server. –Farshid Zaker Jun 4 '11 at 8:42 My main problem is: why I can not allocate 110MB to Tomcat heap size if I can do it for Java? –ZenQW Jun 4 '11 at 8:57 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote Set CATALINA_OPTS to -Xmx110m, JAVA_OPTS. I suppose you could set both, to be sure. share|improve this answer answered Jun 4 '11 at 8:43 Sean Owen 49.2k1393143 I also tried setting CATALINA_OPTS to -Xmx110m and I get error. –ZenQW Jun 4 '11 at 8:56 add a comment| up vote 2 down vote The Xmx flag may be ignored when you run the java executable with the -version flag. This depends on how you pass the version flag. The following are the results on my machine with 2GB RAM: Version flag passed before Xmx C:\Users\Reynolds>java -version -Xmx10240M java version "1.6.0_21" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_21-b07) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 17.0-b17, mixed mode, sharing) which is weird considering that 10G is beyond the max addressable limit on memory in a 32-bit environment. initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap Could not create the Java virtual machine. Cause The Xmx (heap space memory) is set beyond what a 32-bit JVM can handle. Resolution Set the heap space memory lower. See How to fix out of memory errors by increasing available memory. If you need to use a bigger heap space, you should migrate to a 64bit OS with 64 bit JVM. For Windows 64bit, you should substitute the tomcat6.exe and tomcat6w.exe binaries.
