Hi, I run WinXP Pro SP2 and all updates on a DFI Lanparty UT nF3 Ultra - D motherboard, AMD Athlon64 3800+ CPU, http://www.techrepublic.com/forums/discussions/access-denied-during-a-device-installation/ 1GB Corsair memory. Recently, I newly set up my system, and installed my USB Epson C70 printer. I have had this printer for more than 3 years, and have never had a problem installing it, till now. Upon error occurred start up with printer on, or upon switching printer on during a session, I get messages which say: New hardware found. And after that - Cannot instal this hardware. An error occurred during the installation of the device. Access denied. Click Finish. After clicking out of the messages, the printer works quite normally. I have several times uninstalled the printer and drivers, and reinstalled using the original CD which came with the printer, or the latest error occurred during drivers available on the Epson web site. But always with the same result. Please tell me what is wrong and how to correct it. The system can not update a device if it's files are in use. Try disabling the network controler in device manager, reboot, then try updating the drivers before you enable the device. 0Votes Share Flag Collapse - Same issue by herk.papadakis · 9 years ago In reply to Files in use.... I tried your recomendation even before i posted the question. It does not work. I think there is a registry entry that i need to modify. I never had before any trouble updating a driver even if the device was in use.I can see the devices okay. I can enable or disable without a problem. I just don't know where. 0Votes Share Flag Collapse - 'chown' or 'chmod' by Absolutely · 9 years ago In reply to Same issue Oh, sorry, I forgot, you're using a property ownership obfuscation algorithm, not an opera
