Exchange Event Service Fails to stay running Posted on 2005-10-21 Exchange 1 Verified Solution 5 Comments 11,416 Views Last Modified: 2012-08-14 The system drive failed, so I installed new drives, installed windows & exchange, got exchange up and running with the original edb's. Now, when I start the ES, it starts successfully, then gives the following error, then stops successfully. Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchangeES Event Category: General Event ID: 5 Date: 10/21/2005 Time: 12:00:00 AM User: N/A Computer: KDC01E Description: An unexpected MAPI error occurred. Error returned was [0x80004005]. Any ideas on how to fix this? I had some issues originally with the MTA & IMC, but I changed the required entries in the registry and they began to work. 0 Question by:cougar694u Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 21 Best Solution bymarc_nivens Changed registry entry for MTA and IMC? That sounds like you installed with the wrong Org or Site name. If so thats very likely the problem with the event service. Check the MSExchangeSA\parameters key. There is a value for your org name here, I think its called Enterprise. There may be a couple of others that designate site and server name. Change these to reflect the correct values and see if the ES will start. Sorry I don't have the exact value names, I don't have a 5.5 server handy. 0 LVL 2 Overall: Level 2 Message Author Comment by:cougar694u2005-10-21 I know where they are, I'll take a look. I didn't look there, only in MSExchangeES\parameters. We'll see if this works. 0 LVL 2 Overall: Level 2 Message Author Comment by:cou

Jul 24, 2012 Comments Tabasco May 23, 2013 John269 Manufacturing, 251-500 Employees So I've found varing bits of information on this. For us, it was an Exchange error occurred error 2003 server servicing a request for an application written against a 2000 or 5.5 server. It was throwing the error condition in the description "An unexpected MAPI error occurred. Error returned was [0x80004005]." What I ulitmately found that eliminated this error was here: http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=5&eventno=1549&source=MSExchangeES&phase=1 Where I thnk Paul de Vries was right: The Microsoft Exchange Event (MSExchangeES) service needs to run not as the Local System, but rather as a full Exchange Admin account with Log on As a Service capability. (that should be set automagically when you assign the account to start the service). my 2 cents!
