Until then, we cannot safely say if it's Apple's servers (doesn't seem like it if it times out so readily) or your router configuration... –user10355 Sep 13 '11 at 19:39 add a comment| 6 Answers 6 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote accepted I have sorted the issue. I just had to use a different router. The BT Business hub that I previously been using had a problem on it which prevented anything above 2GB do loose connection. This would explain other problems as well. share|improve this answer answered Jul 21 '11 at 10:39 Ginger Bill 203138 1 Glad you've sorted things - do accept this answer if it's the best solution for you :-) –bmike♦ Sep 13 '11 at 23:15 add a comment| up vote 4 down vote I had a similar event. Keep holding them down until you hear the startup chime three times. This will not only clear out your RAM memory (which is what restarting does), but also clear out the PRAM, which can hold certain settings that persist through restarts. If you still have problems, you might try downloading from a different network. If your network has intermittent connection issues, you might not notice anything but slow network performance ordinarily, but things like streaming videos or long downloads could be impacted. Finally, if none of the above works, contact Apple Support.13.8k Views · View Upvotes Saifur Rahman Mohsin, Technology Evangelist, Growth Hacker & MelioristWritten 95w agoI had the same problem. I made a video to solve this issue. To find this cache folder you can use Cmd+I on each of the folders to see the size and determine which is the possible folder. The easier way would be to sort it by date and see the most recently modified folder.Make sure you use the instructions in the video to tak

Being a developer myself I find it very simple to have a central location that I can submit my Mac applications to and not have to worry about any of the backend processing such as merchant accounts, refunds, updates, etc… The downside is when a consumer has an issue downloading one of your apps. There isn't much you can do short an error occurred of telling them they must contact Apple. Well, if I was a consumer and had an issue downloading an app after I had already paid for it, then I would expect the app developer to help me with the issue. I have recently encountered an issue with a consumer that tried to download an update to one of my apps. After attempting the download the consumer was greeted with the very generic error message, An Error has occurred… In this post I am going to show you how to fix this error message. In my opinion this error occurs because of some Meta Data issue. There are 2 possibilities for fixing this issue, one of which involves deleting all the content from the AppStore folder and the other involves the terminal and running a command line tool to enable debugging for the Mac App Store. Solution Number 1: Deleting all content from the AppStore folder Sign out of the Mac App Store by clicking on Store->Sign Out from the App Store Menu Quit the Mac App Store App Open Finder and browse to ~/Library/Application Support/AppStore/ (Where ~ is your home folder) If you don't know how to get to your home folder you can open up Macin
attempted installation of OS X El Capitan or OS X Yosemite are the "This copy of the Install OS X El Capitan application can’t be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading" error, or a "This copy of the Install OS X Yosemite application can’t be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading" message, or a more vague "An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running again" error message. Sometimes these can be resolved by simply rebooting and trying to reinstall OS X again (or re-downloading the OS X installer if it was damaged), but if the error messages are persistent, then you may find that modifying the system date of the Mac can be the resolution. It's possible to encounter these errors during basically any type of installation attempt in OS X El Capitan or OS X Yosemite, ranging from the standard App Store update, using Internet Recovery, to clean installs, and using a bootable installer volume on a target Mac. If you run into either error message while trying to update or install OS X while from an active OS X boot (say, a standard upgrade from the App Store), you can typically resolve the problem simply by setting the Date & Time on the Mac to be determined automatically. To do this, go to the Apple menu > System Preferences > Date & Time, and be sure the "Set date and time automatically" option is checked: That method requires the Mac to have active internet access, however. If you're on a computer without internet access, or if you encounter the problem during an alternative OS X installation method and thus can't access System Preferences, turning to the Terminal to set the date is the next option. To determine if the Terminal date trick can fix those error messages and help you to successfully install OS X, you'll need to turn to the command line while at the "Install OS X" boot menu. Pull down the "Utilities" menu option and choose "Terminal", then type the following command into the prompt: date Hit return, and if the reported date is anything other than the actual current date, then you've almost certainly found the cause of the problem. This may look something like: Mon Jan 19 09:55:15 PST 1984 The entire line matters, as the date must be correct in order to install OS X, specifically the year, because if the date set is prior to the release of OS X, the error will trigger.
