EPSON Scan: Cannot Communicate with the scanner... Error. Mike Mclain discusses one possible fix to the EPSON Scan Error (Cannot Communicate with the scanner. Make sure the scanner is on, correctly setup and connected with no http://mamclain.com/?page=Blog_Personal_Projects_EPSON_Scan_Fix errors indicated. For detailed information, see Solving Problems in the User’s Guide.) while using a EPSON workforce network printer. Preface: Before I begin discussing my solution to this particular problem, allow me to provide a http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/scanning-problems-with-hp-all-in-one.3849196/ brief disclaimer: First, it is important to recognize that this particular error message is inherently (if not intentionally) generic by design and the number of problems that can ultimately produce this particular error is error occurred extremely vast. For example: A scanner without power can produce this error message. A scanner not connected via Universal Serial Bus (USB) (if applicable) to a computer can produce this error message. A scanner not connected via Ethernet or Wi-fi (if applicable) to a local area network (LAN) can produce this error message. A scanner with a bad or damaged USB cable (if applicable) can produce this error message. error occurred while A Windows computer that has certain scanner related services disabled can produce this message. A computer with improperly or incorrectly installed scanner drivers can produce this error message. Likewise, there are also a number of other creative (error message) scenarios generally revolving around the notion that some type of communication problem exist between a computer and the scanner. Conversely, while I might touch upon some of these scenarios within my solution (and hopefully my solution can resolve your particular variation of this problem); however, given that this problem is extremely vague in nature, I can make no guarantees that my solution will resolve your particular variant of this error. Furthermore, if your scanner utilizes a USB or serial connection, I can definitely say that my solution will not resolve your problem; however, (under such circumstances) I highly recommend that you examine the list provided above, prior to searching the web again, since the majority of USB related problems are cable or Windows service related (at least based upon my research while solving my particular problem). Second, given the diverse occurrence of this particular problem (since scanners are practically a household item), I attempted to make this article as broad as possible in order to make
post about this issue one more time... It still hasn't been resolved (after 10 back-and-forth e-mails with HP technical support), and I really need your help! First off, I run Windows Vista Home Premium (32). I've used my HP Photosmart C4280 printer for about 2 years, worked fine for the most part. Lately I started having problems, so I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver & software (got the latest versions from HP download site). Since reinstall, my scanner isn't working. Whether I press the "Scan" button on the unit, or I select "Scan picture" or "Scan document" from the HP Solution Center, an error pops up: "An error occurred communicating with the scanning device. Please ensure that the printing device is properly connected and try again". Also, I've uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers/software several times, cleaned temporary files and registry, still the problem persists. Having said that, the printing/copying works fine, so I know that the printer is properly connected. BTW, tried connecting the same printer to a friend's PC running Windows XP and it scans with no problem, so the issue must have something to do with HP interacting (non-interacting) with Vista. Please help!!! civ2ru, Jul 9, 2009 #1 Advertisements Carol Guest Scanning with HP all in ones using Vista is a disaster. I've been trying to get them to write a patch but zero response. You can scan but only to picture format - .btmp, .jpeg, etc. That means you can't OCR anything which is a real problem for me. If you're willing to accept the picture format, just turn on the printer, go to Programs/Accessories and open Paint. Click on File then "From Scanner or Camera" then click Scan. If HP ever comes up with a patch, I'll post the information. "civ2ru" wrote: > Sorry to post about this issue one more time... It still hasn't been resolved > (after 10 back-and-forth e
