There is probably some minor technical error in the internal structure of the file which is normally ignored by other playback software but causes the Classic to bail out. a message similar to the following: “There was an error downloading your purchased music. An unknown error occurred (-50)." The basic cause is a connection timeout while trying to complete your download. Note that this error occurs on https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2672066?tstart=0 both Mac and Windows systems. You may have lost your connection temporarily or the connection slowed enough to cause a timeout. If this happens frequently, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for help on fixing this issue. A connection timeout means that the remote server doesn't respond http://www.brighthub.com/computing/mac-platform/articles/112342.aspx after a set amount of time. The most common cause of iTunes Error 50 is interference from another program. Another program can slow your connection, causing a timeout, or block iTunes from downloading content altogether. The programs most commonly at fault are web accelerators, anti-virus software, firewalls and ad filters. For the most part, these are applications you don't want to stop as they help keep your computer safe. Luckily, there are ways to prevent future error messages, while still maintaining a safe system. If you have problems logging into the iTunes Store, you may receive iTunes Error 50 when trying to download files you've recently purchased to your device. This can also happen if you suddenly cannot connect to the iTunes Store, even after logging in. If the iTunes error message only happens when you download videos, the problem is due to cached video files. This problem is easy to diagnose and fix. You can restart your download after removing the cached files. slide 3 of 5 Solve iTunes Error 50 If you suspect a program is causing the problem, close your Internet browser and any other applications that use the Internet except for iTunes. Close the suspected application, such as your anti-virus or firewall. Try re-downloading your content. If you do not receive the iTunes Error 50 message, the program you closed is more th

I had a similar problem after deleting some songs without using error occurred the iTunes interface. I think the only way to fix it was to create a new iTunes library. I've also seen something similar when ripping to an external drive routed through a USB hub. Something about the hub was causing a problem. Everything was fine when I connected the drive directly to a USB port. curbach, Feb 17, 2012 #2 Sandinista Formerly hightower68 Thread Starter Location: Near a beach, Florida No, no mucking. Location: Hollywood, USA You "called iTunes"? I call it a piece of crap all the time, but rarely get it to respond. And Apple's no help, either. Usually, the "!" error sign indicates the database is corrupt, a file got moved, or the destination directory was set up wrong in the user config. If it's only one file, it's not a big deal. God help you when it's thousands of files. (Though this is easier fixed today than it used to be.) Vidiot, Feb 18, 2012 #6 stereoptic Anaglyphic GORT Staff Location: NY Yeah, but this error occurred before the rip, so there is no file yet to get lost. As far it being easier to find the "!" files, this happened to me once or twice. Once iTunes asked if I want to use the directory to which I pointed to find other lost files, the other time it didn't ask. Even though I clicked the OK , it didn't 'look' for those files and I had to do them one by one anyway! stereoptic, Feb 18, 2012 #7 Geithals Well-Known Member Location: Reykjavik The dupe issue is different, the cause for the most part is carelessness by the u
