Microsoft has done a great job in managing all the pre-requisites of an installation prior to an Administrator actually selecting the “install” button. Even with all these fail safes in place, there are a few occasions where the installation does encounter an issue and errors out. Now if an Administrator has not snapshot their VM prior to installation (shame on you), you may find yourself in a precarious situation and will most likely start from scratch as to have the “cleanest” install possible. Problem In this remaining 10% of installation errors, our team runs into the below screenshot the most. It states “an error occurred while executing custom action:RollbackCleanup”. If you were to take a look at Event Viewer, within the System event log you will see the following
Omer SiddiquiAugust 20, 20130 0 0 0 I was recently working to deploy Microsoft System Center Service Manager Self Service Portal 2012 SP1 on SharePoint 2010 Servers and I found couple of issues during the deployment and I thought to share the fixes. The Service Manager 2012 SP1 Management Server and Service Manager 2012 SP1Data warehouse Servers were installed on Windows 2012 with centralized SQL Server 2012 on Windows Server 2012 as well. http://cireson.com/blog/scsm-an-error-occurred/ The first error I faced was below: An error occurred while executing a custom action:_DeploySharePointSolution.F175D191_81C3_4A7D_A05B_6A250575B468 I verified that the configuration seems fine except that SharePoint 2010 was missing Service Pack 1, once I installed SP1 on the SharePoint 2010 machine, I was able to install the Service Manager Self Service Portal. The second https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/omers/2013/08/20/service-manager-self-service-portal-installation-issues/ issue I faced was on the “Finalize” stage and it was “An Error occurred while executing a custom action:RollbackCleanup." In order to solve this issue, I increased the Service timeout settings within the registry in order to allow for Service Manager adequate time to restart its services. Beware that this workaround is a global setting, and it affects timeouts for every service. The following steps outline how to make these changes: Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK. Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control In the right pane, create the ServicesPipeTimeout entry On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value. Type ServicesPipeTimeout, and then press ENTER. Right-click ServicesPipeTimeout, and then click Modify. Click Decimal, type 600000, and then click OK?This value represents the time in milliseconds before a service times out. Restart the computer. Once this registry update was carried out, I was able to successfully
came across an error during the "Finalize" stage of the install sequence. The error i received was "An Error occurred while executing http://blogs.inframon.com/2016/05/service-manager-install-fails-with-an-error-occurred-while-executing-a-custom-actionrollbackcleanup/ a custom action:RollbackCleanup.". After doing some research i found that this can sometimes be due to a timeout. The amount of time before a timeout occurs is written in the registry and can be changed by following the steps below: Open regedit from the Start menu. Browse to the following subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control Create a new DWORD value error occurred named ServicePipeTimeout. In the properties of ServicePipeTimeout, select Decimal, and give a value of 600000. (This is milliseconds). Restart the Comnputer. Once this change was made the install completed successfully. Please Note: The above is a global change and will affect the timeout for all services. This may need deleted once the install has been completed. error occurred while Author: Connor McCardleTagged Service ManagerSystem Center Post navigation Get-SCOMGroup returns error message "The query processor ran out of internal resources…"Operations Manager 2012 R2 Report Server Install: The specified SQL Server instance is not valid 9 thoughts on “Service Manager Install Fails with: An Error occurred while executing a custom action:RollbackCleanup.” tin moi says: June 4, 2016 at 12:56 pm I think what you said was very reasonable.
