During the Sharepoint 2013 installation however, when I run the Configuration Wizard, after inputting all the information I receive the following error: The database server name I use is the same name as the server I'm installing Sharepointtoo (lets say "spserver") so I enter an error occurred while renewing interface access is denied it as "spserver.domain.edu" as the FQDN...the username is my username which is an admin account for machines in our Active Directory OU. cons of patriotism » An obscure “failed to create the configuration database” issue… By admin | February 2, 2012 - 5:12 http://www.cleverworkarounds.com/2012/02/02/an-obscure-failed-to-create-the-configuration-database-issue/ pm | February 2, 2012 Active Directory, Infrastructure, Security, SharePoint, Troubleshooting Send to KindleHi all You would think that after years of installing SharePoint in various scenarios, http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/68889/sharepoint-configuration-create-new-server-farm-system-invalidoperationexcepti that I would be able to get past step 3 in the configuration wizard (the step that creates the configuration database). But today I almost got nailed error occurred by an issue that – while in hindsight is dead-set obvious – was rather difficult to diagnose. Basically it was a straightforward two server farm installation. The installer account had local admin rights on the web front end server and sysadmin rights on the SQL box. SQL was a dedicated named instance using an alias. error occurred while I was tutoring the install while an engineer did the driving and as soon as we hit step 3, blammo! – the Installation failed claiming that the configuration database could not be created. Looking a little deeper into the log, the error message stated: An error occurred while getting information about the user svc-spfarm at server mydomain.com: Access is denied Hmm.. After double checking all the obvious things (SQL dbcreator and securityadmin on the farm account, group policy interference, etc) it was clear this was something different. The configuration database was successfully created on the SQL server, although the permissions of the farm account had not been applied. This proved that SQL permissions were appropriate. Clearly this was an issue around authentication and active directory. There were very few reports of similar symptoms online and the closest I saw was a situation where the person ran the SharePoint configuration wizard using the local machine administrator account by mistake, rather than a domain acco

I have used 3 different Domain users 3 different times to try to create this and I am still getting the same error. Points to note: All domain users used were part of Administrator group in DB server machine. All domain users used also have access to SQL server with server roles: securityadmin, serveradmin, setupadmin, sysadmin. 2010 configuration share|improve this question asked May 23 '13 at 4:18 Sameen Ali 3519 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote The reason is in the system registry FIPS is enabled. In the registry there are three keys which are related to FIPS. HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\LSA\FipsAlgorithm HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\LSA\FipsAlgorithm HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA\FipsAlgorithm Set the value for all the keys as "0" to disable FIPS. Then re-run the configuring wizard after deleting the created tables related to SharePoint in the SQL Server Database. It works for me and configuration was completed successfully. share|improve this answer answered Aug 26 '13 at 13:12 user19129 111 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service.
