If the Repair option given in the above post does not install vba you will need to specifically select VBA from the Excel components list and proceed to install it. Here is a step by step guide that walks through the process http://www.excel-vba.com/vba-excel-install.htmHope this is ok. John,I tried your fix with no success. The VBA button gives 3 choices -- Run from computer, Installed on first use and a RED X Not available.I tried the first two selections to no avail. I no longer get the error message but the screen just flashes and nothing happens. Expert: John D replied5 years ago. I installed it on a brand new PC tried to open an excel file which uses VBA and i get this error message:An error occurred initializing the VBA libraries (1004)then it asks me if i want to repair the install since a component is error occurred missing. If i say yes, it does repair it and then i can use my file, but right after i close it, i get the same message if i open it again. If i say no i get this message: An error occurred initializing the VBA libraries (1004)The thing i think is that VBA isn't correclty installed (wierd since it's a brand new install thgouh error occurred initializing .....) and even though i repair it doesn't keep it.The other point i can mention is that, if i accept the repair then when closing XL i get an error telling me "an error occured blablabla" with a checkbox to restart it. the basic error message. I don't get it if i don't repair.Any hints ?Thanks in advancemiraodb 07-12-2009 8:16 PM In reply to An error occurred initializing the VBA libraries (1004) HI all, well first of all i wanted to say thanks to you KauaiDawn for trying to to help me out, unfortunetely i didn't managed to repair the install !i checked everythign, i repaired windows, office, looked all over internet for hours and couldn't find a thing !!finally, i ended up formating the drive, reinstalling a fresh Windows XP + office without nothing else and it works like a charm.I actually saw few interesting things on forums, seems like office 2003 doesn't handle well the acrobat professional and other software that plugs their own plugin to it.My guess, microsh... is trying to prevent their use ;-)Anyhow, thanks again.I'll ask for refund since i solve this issue myself.Cheers, miraodb
