occurred while generating report: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. When running a Group Policy Result of a remote system the GPMC admin console shows this error : "An error occurred while generating report: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." When running a GPresult from command prompt to a remote system this error appeared : "gpresult ERROR: Invalid pointer" The solution : In the preferences I was creating an extra local administrator user. Changing the option from create to update fixed the problem. After changing the setting from create to update, then a GPupdate / force on the remote system and I was able to query via GPMC the remote system for a Group Policy result. This must be some sort of "extra feauture". --------------- In my case a GPO was set : "Disable Automatic Install of Internet Explorer components." After changing the setting to not configured, then a GPupdate / force on the remote system and I was able to query via GPMC the remote system for a Group Policy result. -- I also re-edited the preferences, just openened en clicked OK again. and edited the GPO restrict unauthenticated RPC clients This entry was posted by mieffel on 27 Nov ’13 at 21:20, and is filed under Microsoft, Windows 7.
